Twenty Sided - The DM of the Rings

Quote:
Lord of the Rings is more or less the foundation of modern D&D. The latter rose from the former, although the two are now so estranged that to reunite them would be an act of savage madness. Imagine a gaggle of modern hack-n-slash roleplayers who had somehow never been exposed to the original Tolkien mythos, and then imagine taking those players and trying to introduce them to Tolkien via a D&D campaign.

Serin told me about it and I had some really good laugh at it. I thought about putting this in the Off-Topic section, but I thought it was worth keeping here due to it's D&D content.

WARNING
There are responses to each of these cartoons and perhaps some of the text might contain more adult language, thought I don't remember anything unsuitable in the cartoons themselves. Please be aware that the One Ring is not responsible for any off-site content you decide to look at.

A long time ago, in a bookshop far far away, I found D&D. It led to many evenings of planning dungeons with suitably fiendish traps, plots and clues, populated with a variety of menaces. It was pretty funny, watching the adventurers thinking they had reached their goal at long last, only to stumble into the dragons lair....

But LotR beats it hands down every time.

That was absolutely magnificent. I read the entire strip and have bookmarked it ready for the next installment. Wow, it's 3am here now - I've been sitting reading this and laughing out loud for about 3 hours!

That is great. I only made it Weathertop when I started to chuckle outloud. Not good when you're dialed into a conference call for work. I'll have to pick it up again off-hours.

Thanx!!!!!!
