In this topic a few months back, I talked about the fascination I had with chaining up a big scary hero. Yesterday, I got started. Here's where I'm at with Bolg so far.

Now I'm waiting for the glue to dry so I can decide what else it needs

Fatty is Bolger than most heroes, but to call him the Bolgest? I think that's a bit much

Thanks! I know I've seen someone talk about doing it to a Dragon, though I don't know what's come of that idea

I've been working on the foot model as well:

I do need to fix the angle on that rope, but I think it does a good job telling the story.

The (mostly) finished product!

The pictures came out a bit blurrier than I had hoped, but the important bits still show :)

Bolg is done, finished him up and now he's resting comfortably. Time for the next project: DRAGON

I wanted to make his base look interesting, but I tend to dislike scenic bases without a story to them (so lumping him on a plain rock just for the sake of it). At first, I thought about having him crash down on a burning house, that didn't feel great. Then I thought about where he might live; if this is part of my Mordor collection, he lives somewhere in Mordor. Quite likely among the outer mountains somewhere, which means rocks. Well, if I don't want a plain rock, what if the residents of Mordor needed a "DRAGON AHEAD" road sign? Just a way of knowing not to go there unless absolutely necessary.

So, I built a crude Dragon skull to look like it was hewn out of the mountain (by the unskilled hands of Orcs, that's my excuse for unevenness). I still need to get the eye sockets done right, and I will need to flesh it out a bit because right now the Dragon's feet are just floating there.

Also, you'll notice the beginnings of a Balrog-esque fire paintjob on the Dragon, that's something I've been working on as well.

I'm still working on the Dragon, not much to share there. I can, however, share my progress on good ol' Sauron. One of the first models I painted, I had to strip him and start again.

This is where he's at now:

Neat idea with the chained boss. I especially like that battered torso he's dragging around.

Never actually saw your response, Gangleri, thanks!

Newly finished models:
(I apologize for the sideways-ness of the pictures, they're right-side up if you click on them though!)

Morgul Knights, including a Black Numenorean Marshall with lance.

Gulavhar, the Terror of Mordorland (gotta keep this themed)

Nice work.
Bolg is an interesting idea.
I like the dragon colour scheme as it was above. Not often that you see black dragons. Good work.

I won't be able to get any work done over the next little while, but the Dragon does top the list of models I'd like to finish

Been working on these guys lately. Going for the Balrog-esque scheme. You can see my attempt at source lighting on the guy in front.

Just went through this and realized most of my pics had been taken down, so I reuploaded them. Hopefully they'll be more stable now.

The Dragon picture was lost, so I just took one of how he looks now, finished. Bolg has since received a bunch of tattoos but otherwise looks the same.

Here is what Sauron looks like now as the finished product:

Image

I call him "finished", but I've recently decided that I don't want my army to have the Eye of Sauron theme. I want it to be blood themed, so I might take the bouncy floofs on his base and paint them to look like blood.

SPEAKING OF BLOOD

Image

I tried to paint all the fire to look like fountains of blood, with it pooling at his base.

Oh yeah and I like blue

Image

One thing I see looking at these pics is that I don't love the Black Numenorean bases. The idea was for it to look like mist, but really they just look like the insides of a stuffed animal.
