Here I will regularly post sites I find for various uses to help others with tips.

Scenery general
a hub for many here http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/video/c/woodlandscenics
Scenery Trees;

Shrubs

Grass

Painting
Layering - good http://youtu.be/caY1iy_hKUc
White (cool) http://youtu.be/cJwaaFsgnQo

Remember to research. Before each model, look at pictures of source material or watch a video or read an article pertaining to techniques or colors you will use, that will help you get your mind together while you are prepping the model. Try it.

Well I finally put paint to my isengard Trolls. One is a sculpted body with arms from troll kit and head from metal isengard set. One is from the plastic Kit but with sculpted shoulder armor and forearm plate. I also dusted off my old two metal models and touched up the paint on them. I now just have to paint and flock bases and call them "good'nuff".

Not as many as my Mordor Troll collection, but I think they all have character.

It seems he likes the smell of rotting flesh around his neck because it looks like he made it himself from the watcher in the water
never knew trolls where so creative 8)

@ sithious : Love the variation and detail you put in your trolls. The one who is actually wearing pants is both as dangerous as he is funny :)

The middle Troll was the one I did a while back for a painting contest here. Yeah, he is wearing sewn shreds of Watcher flesh, not the watcher, but I am sure the Fords of the Isen had some form of water creatures in it's darker places, probably even had watchers for Sauron keeping an eye on the white wizard until Sarman went ahead and handed him reigns.
Either way, if he ever finds a disco, he will tear it up.

I know Isengard doesn't have Trolls mentioned at all in the books, so if at all these guys are only in the bowels and caves under the tower and only come forth at night, thus they are never seen by any to give account or record of them being there. They either drown went the ents attacked or they found ways through the caverns to get back into the mountains again.

@bofur - I highly recommend the plastic Troll kit. I was able to sculpt two bodies for each kit I bought (4 kits = 12 trolls) which add to my metal trolls very well. I am getting better at sculpting little by little, but I used some obvious tricks to make It easier and faster like pants, the watcher cloak, armor plates..anything that can cover up some anatomy which is the harder part to get right. I do hope to someday sculpt my own trolls from scratch (among many other things).
@jelier - the pants troll was my last to paint but I sculpted this one a long while ago when doing my Mordor ones. It took me this long to get used to it and accept it enough to paint it. often I was going to cut the legs off and do them normal but I had to go with my inspiration and get these off my work desk. I am not thrilled with his stance. The spear facing the opposite direction was a good idea in mind too but didn't look great on this model because the arms are not in a natural position. But other than that, he looks like a troll and will fit in with the rest of them.

I painted another two of Haldir's elves in the scheme I had done a while ago just to see how it is done. I liked the scheme. It is tough to keep neat.

Sorry the bases are not done yet, still thinking about trying something different.

In case anyone is curious. I painted up mithril silver very even, but shaded with glazes of ehrin grey and a little black. Effort was put toward keeping it shiny while still getting some definition of the plates. To that end, often you switch between shading and highlight to get there.

Thank you so much Gandalf. I wish I could say that the scheme was my own vision but it was not. A long while back someone posted a picture of this scheme that someone else did and asked how to accomplish it. I liked the scheme and did a one off of the scheme to figure it out and I did love it. But all this time later as I look at my Haldirs elves and Galadhrim back log I want to be sure this is the scheme I want to go with and decided to paint up the rest of the first blister in the scheme as a break from other stuff.
I will have to practice the white shading some more, it is tough to find that balance even when taking a long time on it, I think repetition will help me with this for sure.

Nice work. It is quite hard to get results using white and silver, so you have done well.
Keep working at it, I think you lose a bit of definition in the abdomen, so maybe add a little more pure white there, but otherwise, top work :)

Wow! Those elves look gorgeous, really unique and effective colour scheme - great stuff! Don't envy you having to paint an army like that though - I hate painting white! Can't wait to see more!

This Galadhrim scheme reminds me of the transformed Galadriel (the Mirror scene in FoTR). Sort of ghostly, ethereal and magical. Very nice and good to see something a little different now and again.
Imagine an army of elves transformed like her? It would be like the First Age mob turning up again.
