I was thinking it would be an interesting idea to see someone build Mirkwood (or Laketown for that matter); I am glad you are. What will you use for cobwebs?

I haven't thought of the cobwebs yet - that will be the last thing I do. As you can see from the pink ground, it's not yet painted. Today I'm going to try and finish the roots, then I'll add some more pictures.

Here's an update of the project.

I've just added some roots to more of the trees, but there are fourteen in total so I've only got half of them done.

Here's an image of the chasm. The ground has a gap in it that I do intend to fix.

Here's one of two bridges that cross the chasm. It is made of the roots of two trees.

Not what I expected but excellent work, looks like what I imagine LOTR would be like if done as a play in a theater.

I am loving that while this is doing a great job showing a work in progress, it is also doubling as intriguing, mysterious Gandalf exploration with adept photography/lighting techniques.

Wow, nice photography. I'd like to see a battle report being played!
