didn't knew u were doing painting mini's as a full time job now. I knew u did some comission work. Quite awesome to be able to do that. One day i ll hope to be able to do the same with my drawing work.
As for the painting, i think it's another splendid job again. Not much to critisize over here... :-) Keep up the good job.

Ha thats one way of looking at it. Batch painting seems to take an age before the models start to look anywhere near finished. Most single minis these days take 3 hours start to finish.

Three hours! You're kidding?! That is *fast*!

Yep Aragorn was 3 hours start to finish. I'm an hour into EFGT Gandalf and he's just about finished too.

Gulp, take me an hour to find the paint brush!

It's been a while huh?

Real life has been keeping me away from here and from painting in general but that is all about to change....... Couple more days and I'm back! Can't wait :)

I know that feeling :) , i think it's been months again since i last painted. But i did get to painting a bit last week. I am hoping to finish off the first 4 of my mumak crew, by tomorrow.
The older u get the less time u seems to get... I really wonder if no one has been messing around with the clocks around here.

I've been away a while busy with real life and trying hard to stay up to date with painting commissions. I'm back to the One Ring now thankfully so heres a couple of pics of the stuff I've been working on while I've been out of the loop.

First up the Necromancer, the necromancer model was sculpted from scratch by Dave "Ukfreddybear" Fredericks and then passed to me for painting and display base. Good fun this piece.

Full set of pics can be found on the website
HERE

Next piece is an Aragorn and Arwen diorama commissioned for the top table at a clients wedding. Again models sculpted from scratch by Dave.

Full set of pics

As I say there is a lot more I have been working on since I last updated my thread here so if you are interested take a look at the Shadow & Flame Blog

Hope you are all well and ready for the start of the monthly painting challenges and the 2016 league of painters

The Necromancer is suitably impressive of course but I love the Aragorn and Arwen piece, absolutely wonderful work Kev.

Beautiful! I love the Necromancer sculpt and how you painted it. Really does justice to it! :yay:

The wedding diorama is also beautiful. So much to see! Can't stop looking at it, and you really inspired me to do something similar. :) The only thing is that the blacklining is a little too extreme for me (but I guess that's just a matter of taste).

Keep up the fantastic work!

As I mentioned on facebook, awesome work. I will be poking around here soon, can't wait to catch up on everything everyone has been doing. Still regularly motivated by what you and dave do.

Thanks for the great comments guys :-).

With the 2016 Golden Demon over its time to get some pictures up. If you want to see the full range of pics for each piece then check out the Golden Demon Index on the S&F website which has multiple pictures of all of this years entries plus all previous years aswell. Just click on the website pics to see the full sets.

Here are the entries I took along this year.

LOTR single Miniature
This guy I painted back in early 2015 and spent the next year until the competition wanting to repaint it as I know I can do a better job of it.
Image

Duel
This is the model I put all my hopes, prayers , rain dances you name it lol - everything went into this. The whole process was difficult but I got there in the end and was rewarded with a finalist pin. Happy with the result. So near yet so far away. Conversion work was by Dave (Flame).

Diorama
Again the 2 models were heavily converted by Dave. I named the piece "The Last Farewell" to depict Glorfindel bidding his ladyfriend goodbye before he takes the road to Gondolin and meets his death. This piece also made the final :-)

Open
The toughest category of all in my opinion as its aimed at GW staff members. Thought as I was going to the event anyway and I had an unpainted Dave Fredericks Azog conversion I'd have a sneaky go at the open. Was awesome just to see Azog alongside some absolutely incredible paint jobs. A picture of this guy even managed to sneak onto Beasts of war which put a smile on my face :-D

So thats the Golden Demon over for another year. I have already planned my entries for next year and can't wait to have another go.

fantastic pieces. you had models sitting amongst the finest in the world, hell of a job man. I am sure you will take the experience and the thrill of it and allow it to inspire your next attempts to even greater levels. maybe a crystal brush some day too.

Thanks man. Thats exactly right! Just seeing stuff I painted in the display cabinets on the day is an incredible feeling but to get to the final with two just blew my mind. Next step is to get on that stage and claim a trophy.

That's fantastic! I'm sure that most of the other entries were from 40k?

Those are phenomenal. I really love the water under the frozen ice in the Azog - Thorin duel, the whole thing is amazing though. Fantastic work!

The Duel is incredible, you can get lost just looking at what's under water never mind the duel itself. :yay:
