You can see I went with the smaller arch. The 4" by 4" tile will work with my current collection of dungeon sets. I watched the movie again so I have a better idea of how to make BOFA terrain.

The smaller arch works very well.

I absolutely love your gaming space and the hard work you have put into these projects! Awesome. I also have the cavern tile mould from Hirst Arts... I guess it is time to bring out the dental plaster.

I am planning some general purpose facades.

I often use Dwarven forge tiles with my modular sets. The new cavern elevation blocks are on the left.

Thanks for the nice comments.

Are you sure you didn't build any of the film sets ? These look so realistic.

 No but I do study them and try to use the same principles. Thanks for the compliments.

Wow this looks awesome! Those stairs also seem to fit for a Ravenhill scenery but it justify's beter for Dol Guldor.

I have cast 130 stair steps so far for Raven Hill. I need to work out a more modular plain before I start building.

More custom molds under way.

Thanks for the compliments

The first modular part for Raven Hill will be the large fan shaped stair and small corner tower and entry door.

Image

I have the stairs cast. I will cut a core from scrap and finish it with the floor parts. I have to work out the entry door I can not tell from the angle of the photo where it goes.

The photo is of a prop model from the HBOFA Official Movie Guide by Brian Sibley There are several photos of the model and the full size set under construction.

I added the photo of the fan shaped stair as edit.

I have to decide on a one inch door or a two inch door. The small tower will be on the left. The red line is a row of runes. The walls seem to be carved stone. I most likely will carve the pink foam to match.

Wow I have to say I'm envious of your skill and the fact you have a Dol Guldur to play with :P

Awesome work!

Thanks.

I am working through some ideas for making terrain for the old Dol Guldur scenario that looks more like the movie. I will post that here.

Today I have made templates from foam core for the MDF core for Raven Hill.

This is a scan from a photo from Brian Sibley's Official Movie Guide.I am using photos from the book to create my model.

The Hobbit the Battle of Five Armies Official Movie Guide
Brian Sibley Page 150 and 151. There is another photo on 149 and a photo on 117 and 118 of the set under construction. I can not recommend this reference enough.

This section has a lot of potential for scenarios. I will keep this project as modular as possible.

I tried a new idea with foam core. This is a cheap brand available at Dollar Tree for $1. The paper is very easy to remove. I textured the core with a pebble of gravel. I painted it black and over brushed it gray for a base coat. I used the technique on pink foam with good result.

Image

My usual method over MDF . This will take a lot of glue up and drying time. I am very tempted to finish this with pink foam.
Options?
