As always a wonderful piece and I can't wait to see it once Kev has gotten hold of it.

Thanks a lot for the tutorial Dave, I'll surely try this soon! (Just have to order fresh Green Stuff and another clay sharper...).

Just had a look for the original, it's fantastic, as i'm sure yours will be

http://guskearnsminiatures.blogspot.ie/ ... trees.html

Wonder if you would be able to incorporate the dead elf (fallen comrade) from the rivendell knights set? Might be an idea.

I just wish I had the skills to do one.

Or the lack of laziness to even try!

Very nice and effective, reminds me of something but I'm not sure what, hmm.

I was sitting here sculpting and thought, I keep missing UKFB's posts, he sculpts a lot I should check it out. Very impressive all the way, which I knew. You make it look easy, and it sure isn't.

Ok so it's nowhere near the scale of Smaug but I just put together Forgeworlds Excellent Carmine Dragon. At £56.50 it doesn't exactly break the bank either. Just gotta get a dragon size base for it and fill the joins, but I've not been this excited about painting a model for a long time!

Nice looking but even a figure that big seems small when Smaug comes to mind.

Nice sculpt, though I can see seams and a couple of spots where a little filler is required. It always strikes me as odd that it is easier to spot flaws and errors in phots than when the mini is in your own hands, but then again, the camera sees everything and is not subject to 'Shiny Syndrome' like us mere mortals.

Lol, In my defence, I did say the gaps need filling Chris. I just put him together quickly to show you guys. It went together very easily with none of that resin warping issue that GW has problems with. This is the first Forgeworld piece I've ever got and I have to say I am mightily impressed. I cannot find a single bubble hole.

I think I might lose that egg on the base though.

i feel his looks are very close to that lotr dragon GW made. They could be brothers :o
Very nice dragon! Very dynamic pose to, can't wait to see this one painted up.

Yes that's what I noticed too, how similar it is to the LotR dragon, only in a way cooler pose. And that is why I picked it up.

I was looking at the very miniature myself due to the cost difference between it and the LOTR mini being surprising small while being a much nicer piece all around. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this chap.

In the meantime I have been working on resurrecting the Elf from the Dead Marshes. Going for a forlorn reflective post battle look.

The concept for this model goes to Gus Kearns who did something similar for a Golden Demon entry several years ago.

Oh my god, spectacular conversion. :yay:
