Looks like more warriors than the film had for Minas Tirith, Denethor would be proud to send them off on a fools errand.

It is not easy to batch paint that many and keep the energy up. You are doing great though.

Thanks Sithious. I've ground to a near halt on these so need to get going again to finish them off. After all, there's only another 100 or so to do in my drawer.

Last night I glued and undercoated about 90 goblins.

Yesterday I finished basing and undercoating 50 Mordor orcs. Today I've begun batch painting them. As they have less fiddly detail, I have been able to crack on with these and am doing well.

So far - undercoated with Mournfang Brown, painted all weapons with Boltgun Metal and now I'm working on greaves and armour.

It's just the break I need from my Warriors of Minas Tirith. :)

It will be nice to see all of these in place on the battlefield.

Yes, it will! Our current game looked more awesome at the start as the evil army is now on the verge of being broken. There were a lot more goblins and orcs charging as well as a Balrog and 3 more cave trolls! My army has now lost over half its Army of the Dead but it's a way off from being broken so victory is close.

One day I'll get all my painted minis out and set them up, however, my table might not be big enough to hold them all!

14 orcs rolled off the production line today - dark and sombre as I like 'em.
Bit of rsi in the shoulders now due to too much painting and awkward seating position. What a numpty!

I'm working on loads of things at the same time at the moment - imagine the Watcher in the water with a paintbrush at the end of each hideous tentacle!

Here's my Ultimate Lord of the Rings RISK board. I say 'ultimate' because I'm not going to make another - but also because I think it's going to be very cool. I made one years ago of the first board that came out, which didn't include Gondor, Mordor or Harad. This one will have it all. It is designed for use with GW lotr minis, hence it being in my work in progress - it's not SBG or WOTR but is still a game in which I use the figures.

If you click it, you'll be able to see a larger image on Photobucket, plus an irritating pop up telling you that you've won some kind of stupid prize (no joke!) Okay, don't click on that but do have a look at the board.

Image

I have used one of the original maps as a basis and it has only been slightly stretched in landscape format, so is closer to Tolkien's vision than the standard game. I will also be including lots of extra place names that are featured in the maps found in the back of the books.

I seem to have accumulated an almighty backlog! Some of these are nearly complete though as I do large groups of batch painting. One of these days I should really finish off my army of Rohan. The trouble is, I much prefer painting filthy orcs (because I'm a lazy painter and find that 'good' models take more care and time).

I know! It's time for me to see my therapist.

Don't tell me you painted the map on your own. It looks amazing! 8) It has to be great playing on a risk board like that...

It IS great playing on a board such as this. Of course I painted it myself : ) It's got to be much easier than painting miniatures! The board is more like a table without legs at the moment as it has three spaces for drawers along each long side. I'm going to make some drawers for it to hold each player's miniatures.

Next, I need to finish the boundary markings for Mirkwood and Rhovanion before painting the base coats. Then I'll need to work like crazy on all the calligraphy and add details such as the trees in the various forests.

Last night 7 more orcs rolled off the conveyor and I should have another 14 finished today.

:) It is something isn't it!

But... that's not THE collection, it's just two or three (hundred) unfinished minis.

6 more orcs finished this morning and another 6 on their way.

I've been busy with my map. All regions are undercoated, apart from the sea, and I've written a few more place names.

ESTIMATE THE PRICE
Just received a nice ebay lot, mainly to supplement my Easterling army.

I'm wondering if you'll be able to give a good estimate for what I paid for these on eBay, including postage. How eBay savvy are you?

All these models are unpainted and in as-new condition unless otherwise stated.

Here goes...

Plastic Easterlings x 60 (2 damaged)
Metal Easterling captain (halberd broken)
6 metal Easterling Kataphracts
1 metal Easterling banner bearer

Plastic rangers x 46 (2 missing spears)
Plastic warriors of Rohan x 48
Plastic warriors of Minas Tirith x 24

Metal Minas Tirith banner bearer
Metal MT captains x 3
Citadel guard with spear x 3
Citadel guard with bow x 3
Knights of MT with horses x 5 (4 lances missing)

That's about 197 miniatures in total.

So what do you think I had to pay?
Guess away! :)
