Very good color schemes and WIP as well.... I don't post on here very often but I must say I have a huge weakness for First Age schemes/armies.... A while back when I first joined I posted thread going over some first age plans I had. Still haven't got around to doing anything about it, but I still would like to get around to it someday.

I think your plan for the miniatures are very, very good and well thought out, I must say that your plans are certainly much more feasible than mine ever have been or are. :P

Do you plan on making custom profiles for the heroes or just using GW ones?... I have loads of PDF Documents with all manner of custom profiles for the First Age, they are probably far from balanced but they are just WIP at the moment.

Good luck on completing your First Age project I always look forward to updates on this thread :D

hey! I remember going through your forum post and thread on the last alliance. It was extremely helpful when organizing things and even looking for other miniatures to represent different characters and soldiers.

For profiles, I'm not even sure if I will be using them for gaming. As I have said, this will be a very long term project, which probably won't be finished for another ten years or so. I tend to paint very slowly and now that school is going to be getting busier, I will be painting even slower.

For gaming, I don't know anyone near me that plays War of the Ring, so I am just planning things out to make it more of a display army, which is why I am choosing to go for a "flashier" NMM look.

thanks!

Yeah I remember that thread :) I still have most of those plans in a "classified" file. :P

I hear you... I cannot foresee my project being anywhere near done in the near future, at least you have started yours physically, right now mine is all on paper.
:(

You NMM is very very good and I must add that your Feanorian color scheme is very similar to my planned one.

Once again keep up the awesome work and keep bringing the First Age to life. :yay:

So, I have begun to research a lot about the Finrod's kingdom of nargothrond. Just as Feanor seems to have lots of reds/yellows/blacks, Finrod seems to have creamy green and turquoise colors in many of the depictions of himself.

Here is one pic, finrod is the far left individual.
https://www.google.com/search?q=childre ... kTT-XnM%3A

First pic is some NMM steel I did.
Image

This one is a green, creamy white I tried out and am really please with.
Image

Lastly, this is a darker green/blue color I tried out, I think I will use this for an undergarment.
Image

With all of these different areas, I tried using a lot of the similar colors to create some color cohesion. These colors were light turquoise, emerald green and dark sea blue, all by VMC.

hey guys,

So, as many of you may know, Hurin_it, Gimli52 and myself are collaborating together to make a Silmarillion "War of the Ring" supplement. If you would like more info, check out the thread in the WOTR section.

I have also offered my painting efforts to paint up mini's to go in the army lists. This will obviously go nicely together with my current plans as it is.

As Gimli52 and Hurin_it organize all of the rules and other chapters in the supplement, I will be painting along.

So, here is another idea and color scheme that I have been working on today.

The color scheme is based off of the several pictures of Aegnor, son of Finarfin, lord of Dorthonion. These will be his houses' noldor warriors.

Wow! That blue armour is amazing! What is the steel color for? (or is it some type of rock?)

Just did his main cloak.

Was going for a darker blue instead of my normal lighter toned blue.

And I just took a quick pic of my workspace, just for the heck of it.

This is fantastic a project, Feanorthenoldor. I'm really amazed by it and by the care and dedition you're giving to each single figurine.

A for your synopsis:

- For Nargothrond, I suggest you using GW the Hobbit Mirkwood elves - I think they fit very well with the role, and they have also in common their underground realm. Thunderbolt elves are really nice, but I think they remember much more Ossiriand/Dark elves.

- What about those Gamezone lancers for further Fingolfin's and Turgon's units? They have also a cheap cost, that helps much I think. And those Winged Cavalry figures might fit well for a legendary unit...

- Fingon figure: you've already the stunning Fingolfin's figure not wearing helm, Fingon may be would be better having his White one on.

I have got a look inside Reaper's website to find out a suitable figure for Fingon - they make really wonderful sculptures, and their scale is perfect.
I have not found Fingon with the helm on, but there were so many nice characters, that I couldn't resist the temptation of suggesting them to you (yes, Maedhros has still his right hand):

Oh yes, I remember searching through hundreds of Reaper pages to try and find something suitable for Tolkien's elves. But I feel most of the figures did not fit the theme I wanted to emulate.

@Hurin, I'm not sure if you saw my post, but if you go one page back, I think I explain what I want my army to eventually look like.

I see. Too bad, I like very much Reaper. But yes, a bit too often their figures have exagerated weapons or traits, like it is for Wahammer.
Are you thinking about a Teleri army as well?

Everything's looking good, I'm really liking the green/white cloak, as well as the darker one. The armor looks good too, my only suggestion would be to blend it some more. It definitely is an eye-catcher though. :yay:

Alright, I'm back! Hopefully haha.

After a hard semester I finally got up to painting again. I'm slowly relearning all of the blending techniques for NMM and stuff I was doing about 4 months or so again.

I think that the reason why I lost interest in painting was because I was jumping around too much.

Now, I am going to focus on single factions and their personal color schemes.

Anyways, first up is the Kingdom of Nargothrond, ruled by Finrod Felagund.

Pictures will be coming soon of the different cloths and armor that I will be using to represent these Noldor.

Sorry Gianluca not checked in for a while on your page. The blue elf NMM armour is nice but needs more mid tones, it steps up to white over too long an area.

Hey Mally, it's been a while :)

Yeah, I noticed that too with the picture, I need to bring out the midtones just a little more. Am excited to improve my NMM.

Thanks Dorthonion. And yeah, it's nice to have a suitable work space like mine. :)

Anyways, onto the update.

As I said a few posts ago, I was going to start focusing on certain elven factions, instead of jumping around.

First up, Finrod's kingdom of Nargothrond.

This first picture is just a simple NMM sword I quickly did, just to help get me back into the swing of things when it comes to blending.
Image

These next two pictures just show the completed NMM armor and chainmail on this guys' lower half. The undergarment has simply a basecoat.
Image
Image

For the armor and chainmail, I used a lot of the same colors that I will be using for every part of this miniature. Emerald Green, Light Turquoise are the main primary colors I will be using to mix together.

Tell me what you guys think.
