I'm starting a WIP thread mainly to share what I've done and hopefully get some opinions to improve.
Painted my first mini recently a Citadel Guard with a bow.
No fancy layers or shades or anything like that, there are mistakes that i see now but i am quite proud of how this miniature turned out!
Something i'd recommend to other new painters is be very careful when opening the pot of paint, when i opened mine i tipped it by accident and paint came pouring out the other side... fortunately, there wasn't too much that came out though.

Looks good to me, although what would really do this miniature and your painting justice is with a simple shade of for example nuln oil .

Hmmm, will consider buying a Nuln Oil, will definetly look alot more detailed and better, rather expensive though.. I'm so stingy:P

Nuln oil pot is twice the size of a normal pot of paint so it can be used for a LOT of miniatures.

In all honesty I've used Agrax Earthshade way more than Nuln Oil.
Nuln Oil is something I actually only use on chainmail and maybe a few Minas Tirith units, but most of the miniatures look better with a brown shade.

If you're really low on money I would think over what you buy first. For this particular miniature Nuln Oil might be good, but I think that in general Agrax Earthshade suits a larger variety of miniatures.

I would suggest the newer gloss nuln oil for the metal areas and either the standard nuln oil or agrax for other areas. The gloss will ensure you don't matte down the shine of the metal areas, unless that is your desired result which may result in more highlights.

Painted the other 2 citadel guard archers. I tested out having only black and silver on the second archer, personally i like it quite a lot.

Will try to take new photos soon, trying to make them look better but i seem to have issues with lighting.

I won't buy any shades for now considering ill also be buying and painting other armies and minis as well.

edit: new pictures, i did order some new minis earlier this week. will be able to pick up later next week.

Assembled these Galadhrim warriors a while back but never got around to taking pictures or uploading them.
One of the warriors has white all over the head, this was because i messed up the glue and it ended up on the face, I think it should be fine when i start painting though.


I did get around to priming them, the primer is not a coat on the miniature, i saw something that said to just leave it kinda speckled-like. Not sure if that's gonna work though.

A fine start to painting but I do think a wash on these would help bring out the details much more, you can either go with the GW washes but I myself use the Army Painter ones (I can't do without my strong and dark tone).
