I guess this is the right forum for this thead: I don't know what it is about this game, but I have always had this nagging feeling that it should be played on a board with a hex grid on it. That way in stead of measuring, a model might move six hexes instead of six inches (or whatever unit you're using). If you get into a hex adjacent to a model's hex, then you're in that model's control zone and have to battle, etc, etc. I was thinking these would be one inch hexes, but that brings up the problem of what to do with models with larger bases. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to come up with some rules to accomodate them. I know measuring has a long history in tabletop wargaming, but I guess I come more from a board game background - chess, the original War of the Ring, Feudal, etc. Games where the pieces have a set grid to move around on. If you had some sort of standard grid, it would make it easier to come up with a system to play online or through email or whatnot. I guess it wouldn't have to be hexes, it could be squares I suppose, but I always think about hexes. Has anyone else thought about this sort of thing? |

Yes. I have an RPG background and have used 1" square gridded tiles before. I did this for Test of Honour, and it worked well. For rules supporting how bigger characters move according to these rules, check out the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game or any other RPG using miniatures. |
