What do you guys think the points cost should be for the following profile? F S D A W C 6/3+ 4 6 1 1 6 It is a prototype profile for First Age Noldorin Warriors. Their base gear includes Elven Blades and Heavy Armor. Edit: removed 10. |

Strength 4 and Defence 6 without a shield? Okay... 10 should not be an option, that's a high elf spearman. |

@Sacrilege83 I understand that the profile is very elite... but it is pretty clear that the elven warriors described in the Silmarillion were pretty awesome in combat, and I would like to be able to represent that more fully on the tabletop. Thank you for your suggestions |

I think 12 pts, at 15 pts there are a lot better options, and you would expect two attacks or a horse for 15-18 pts |

Well comparing it to a khazad guard, I think it should be 15 points. Less armor but more fight, no body guard but courage 6, and ability to have a bow makes it a few points above Khazad. Not to mention elf speed vs dwarf speed. |

I don't like strength four for Elves at all. Their great fighting style is shown in the fight value not strength. Anyway though since you asked for points....if you take a base high Elf and add one point per boost of a number it should be 13 points. Then you have to figure a shield thing out with that defense. It's too high. So I'd suggest giving that profile a shield and making it 14. |

^It's between 13 & 15 definitely. At 18 I expect a horse to be attached to a model. It has high Fight, high Shooting, above regular Strength, high Defense with no shield, high Courage, plus an Elven blade. 14 sounds about right to me personally. |

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I will go with 15 for now and see how that plays out against other armies. LordoftheBrownRing wrote: I don't like strength four for Elves at all. I understand you statement from a movie viewpoint, but in Tolkiens Legendarium (especially the Silmarillion and other First Age writings) It is made quite clear that the Elves are much stronger than men and indeed than any other "humanoid" creature. The men who were described to be most like them in physical abilities were the Numenoreans who were pretty impressive on their own. I am mostly referring to the Noldor who were expressly stated to be the greatest warriors, smiths, and craftsmen, among the kindreds of the Eldar. |

We're they as strong as Uruk Hai? And also I thought men were smaller and weaker in those ages weren't they? |

Yes they were definitely as strong as Uruk Hai. Uruk Hai were described as being Man orcs, they were basically a match for the average man of the Third Age. The men of the Third Age averaged about the same as men now days... 5 foot 10 inches lets say. The average height of the Numenoreans was 6 foot 6 inches with the body type to match. The Average height of the Noldor was 7 feet... and they were not skinny and lithe as per the film... When they first returned to middle Earth they had little to no training in live Warfare, yet when Morgoths huge army that he had planned for the conquest of all of Beleriand descended upon them, it was easily destroyed, and that was by the smallest (in numbers) of the Three houses of the Noldor. Morgoth soon realized that his current army roster was not a match for the Noldor (and that included Balrogs.) The only way he was able to defeat them in the end was through Treachery and infighting. (I confess I am a First Age nutcase ) As to your second question the opposite would in fact be true.. the Tall and strong men of Gondor were but a shadow of the Power that had been the Men of The first two Ages... Aragorn and the Dunedein were the closest to the Old Lineage of Numenor which had sprung from the Houses of Hador and Beor |
