Bolg(orc)..................................................Points Value: 170 Mv___F__/S/D/A/W/C____M/W/F 6"....6/4+.5..6..3.3..5_____3..3..1 wargear: Armour, orc bow and deathmaul Options: Morgul arrow.............10pts Fell warg..................10pts Special Rules: Burly deathmaul. this crude and cumbersome weapon is as deadly as massive to knock out foes. Deathmaul is a two handed weapon, which can use either the bash or Piercing Strike Special Strikes(pg70). The Bringer of Death. Slaughter and torture are Bolg’s stock in trade. Those who face him in battle are overawed by his murderous nature. Every time that Bolg slays an enemy model, take note of it. Once he has killed two or more enemies, he causes Terror. Once he has killed five or more enemies, he also gains the Harbinger of Evil special rule. Once he has killed ten or more enemies, he may spend a single Might point each turn without depleting his Might store. Morgul Arrow. The Morgul Arrow can only be used once and count as S3 - The evil player must declare he is using the morgul arrow beforing shooting. An enemy that suffers a wound from a morgul arrow is automatically slain regardless of the number of wounds on its profile. Heroes can use Fate to avoid the Wound suffered from the arrow but if this is failed, they are slain. What you think? |

Hi, I've been thinking the same thing, and my profile would've been very similar to the one you have there. The things I suggest need changing however. 1) His shoot value, he should have a 4+ shoot value (see Narzûg) 2) pick-maul - the name is really stupid, and it should be a two-handed weapon. 3) He should be able to take a Fell Warg |

Replying to your stuff 4+ shooting, well not sure, look at the pic, hes half blinded, kinda odd to even being better archer lol and suggest another name for the weapon then :P |

He may be half blinded, but considering the plot armour Thorin's company has, Bolg must be at least a 4+ shot to get through it. Death-maul? lol |

The profile is ok but the morgul arrow is no way. All you do is roll a dice, use your might, and you can kill a Mumakil, a Balrog, a dragon, Aragorn, Gil Galad? No. This is what I'd do: Morgul Arrow: 15pts. If Bolg fires this arrow, and wounds his target, that target takes one wound. At the beginning of each move phase, that target rolls a D6. On a 1 or 2, he takes another wound. Each move phase this character moves 1" less than his normal move. Might and Fate may be used as normal to prevent these wounds. Or maybe instead of moving 1" less, whenever a character calls a heroic action, he rolls a D6, on 1 or 2, its prevented, and might is not charged. |

The morgul arrow applies with the same effect of a morgul blade, thats all it does, so yea witch king can kill a balrog and mumak and watever? of course he can |

Ah see I dont use that profile ever so I never saw it. And now that I did, wow. But honestly, its a lot easier with the arrow, thats why I dont like it that much. With the blade youd have to beat a beast model with more attacks fight and a heroic action, with this, you literally roll a 1(with your might) to wound a mumak, if hes 18" away, and roll a 1 and still kill him.... I just dont buy it. In the movie look how long they live with it. I dont get the game. |

beating the mumak witch king do it easily with crown of morgul 3A at fight 5 vs 4A at fight 4. Also balrog is no heroe so he cant call heroic fights, just depends on how he rolls and how the witch king roll on the heroic fight, he needs a 5+ to win vs the balrog´s fight value and its not really that hard for a general 3might point value model(since every 1 want him with 3 might) And remember you still have to hit, then in the way if there is anything and then to wound. morgul blade got even another advantage, you jsut apply the blade when you roll to wound, so if you lose combat its a non waste really, you fight normal then you say you apply the morgul blade to wound when you win that fight. with this arrow is before any shooting that guy does, if the shoot misses, 2 bad :P In the movie frodo got stabbed by a morgul blade from the witch king and survive the entire night and the next day before getting into rivendell almost at mid day, Kili fell almost to the effect of the morgul blade from 10am more or so till the early of the night (9pm) |

Still thats hours. He easily has more than the time of one of these games. And with the arrow, all you need is clear line of sight, and if he misses his fate rolls, or is out of fate, he dies. You just need might or a decent roll. |

The rule you apply is not a bad example, its just the pre definition they gave to morgul blades in this game, but thats something that had to be changed 10years ago. your version is a more accurace compared to the movie, but in game remmber we dont have all day anyway soo things needs to go alot faster. You really should try to play with the nazgul´s, they are broken when Gw decided to give em names and each its an awesome exploit, the weakest and most useless of all which is easier to die its the tainted, but if you apply a strategy that his rules remove all the stand fast and leadership sharing around, hes a beast on his own. |

You just need might or a decent roll. if a cunning oponent knows bolg have that arrow, he will be smart to get stuff in the way, even troops are that, its a really gamble to know what to do, and thats when people need to make strategy to overcome the odds. imagine you got gandalf, cast blinding light, bolg now needs 6s, sure he needs 3 on the roll and waste 3 might to bump to 6, but now he needs to see if that arrow even wound at all and after that if the targets fate save him (which can be altered with migth as well to ensure he survives) so bolg waste might to make the shoot hit and wound, and carachter make sure use fate and might to avoid it, its a really fair gamble... :P |

As to the him being half blind, you only ever use one eye when aiming anything, otherwise you get really bad double vision. I think this is a much better profile than the on they came out with originally, he's just better than his dad in every way for the same cost. Azog is only really worth it if he's on the White Warg. |

I much prefer your original "Pick Maul", which describes it exactly as what it is, than the somewhat more childish sounding "Death Maul"! After all, "Pick Axe" doesn't sound stupid, does it? |

Looks good to me, was initially thinking his 'Bringer of Death' rules should maybe be slightly more difficult to get now that he can cause damage at range as well, but for his points cost and seeing how he needs to have 10 kills to get to the really good stuff, it's most likely not needed. As for the Morgul Arrow, it can only ever be used on a single roll (which already fails on a 1-3) followed by another that will generally need a 5 or 6, and can then be saved with fate. Yes, sometimes you will kill the enemy general with a single shot in the first turn, but it will usually not do any damage at all. Perhaps drop it to S3, to make it more in line with his normal arrows, and so that it requires a 5 to wound against D4 heroes as well. Draugluin wrote: As to the him being half blind, you only ever use one eye when aiming anything, otherwise you get really bad double vision. Ehm, not really. When shooting a bow without a visor, it is quite common to look with both your eyes (required to judge distance much more accurately). Just like you would when throwing a ball or so.

Made up changes on that arrow S value and dropped to 3. Although remember I just used S4 cause if you look at his bow, seems a composite bow type (much more sturdy on the shoot) unless I state he comes with a composite orc bow with S3. I just took some consideration over this guy. 1st hes not as skilled as azog, he dont show up really skilled like azog in the fight, you can see how diferent they are to a level 2nd legolas match him on a fight, so fight 6 is more suited 3rd he got an eye way better than azog, he range unlike his father 4th he got armour but not heavy, seems he got some scraps of armour on his head and around his chest, but that doesn´t justify heavy armour (D7 was too much) 5th the weapon he shown should be able to knock probe stuff since as you see on the movie when he says to kill all with the dwarves stuck in the barrels, he just go down a small hill and squash and elf probing it into the ground (and pick would rip him up, not literally squish under it lol) 1 of the 3 weapon´s edges is actually sharp like a pick, the others are more blunt/mace like. 6th he can ride a warg, nothing special, but makes him dirty cheap with lots of attacks I would definitely use this profile over the current one, hes still very sturdy to kill, but hes more on good heroe level size cause hes not a commander of legions. More comments are welcome :) |

Yeah I was always wondering where the models profiles were with the knock to the ground thing. I thought there should have been a lot more people who can knock down |
