There seem to be quite a lot of people on the internet saying that Lurtz is underpowered and needs a really big rule to put him up to Ugluk's level. i don't really go with this, as Lurtz was OK in the RotK rulebook. Here is my profile for Lurtz:

Special Rule
Shieldmaster As captain of Saruman's Scout Uruk-hai, Lurtz has had extensive training in use of both a bow and a shield. To represent this, Lurtz may wield a bow, but also gain the defence bonus from his shield, although he may only benefit from the defence bonus from his shield if he does not shoot his bow in the same phase.
Note that if your opponent has priority/called a heroic shoot action, you must tell them opponent whether or not Lurtz will shoot when it is his turn

- Use his shield as a Throwing Weapon

Don't use the shield as a throwing weapon. He's great as tiron proposed , he doesn't need any more really.

i class throwing a shield as a really big, ergo ridiculous rule.

i found it quite difficult to write that rule, i knew what i wanted but couldn't really get it to sound right. what i mean is:

the 2 armies are not in combat yet, so Lurtz decides to shoot his bow. because he cannot use his bow and shield at the same time, when Lurtz gets shot back he only counts as defence 5.
In any situation in which he does not use his bow he is defence 6

yes i do but it does not actually matter as if he shoots in the same phase he cannot be in combat which is the next phase.
