I wanted to try these things out some time because I don't believe they are worth it.

My friend will be playing Elves, and possibly warriors of Minis Tirith or Rohhirim.

I first thought Dark Marshall or Knight of Umbar. The knight has good might to call heroic charges but the Marshall gives them that banner every turn in a smaller radius.

Not sure. I could just go Black Numenorean Marshall actually.

Also anyone who uses these guys often....can you give me some advice other than the obvious. Thanks. I'm trying to use them but can never justify the points. I have 12.

I will likely counter his riders of rohan or womt. I outfight them both. As for the elves sometimes he leaves small contingents of them alone.

I know for a fact he will be using the new legolasbso I won't bring orcs.

I wouldn't go with the Black Numenorean Marshall personally. I have a fair number of the the Morgul Knights because they look awesome and I wanted them to work, but also have had trouble justifying their points. I typically used a ringwraith (Dark Marshall as you mentioned) to lead them to reduce courage in the area in hopes to make Terror more worthwhile, but a lot of Might points is also very useful with cavalry to be certain you are on the charge every turn...a point I'm certain you are well aware of. If you have the points to burn, Dark Marshall on fell beast could be scary as hell with a contingent of Morgul Knights beside it. If you know he's using Legolas, then perhaps Shadow Lord instead?

I was about to say the same thing. The Shadow Lord has good magic and will save the knight from bowfire. Expensive as they are, even losing the horse only would be dramatic. Also, a Nazgul is better than a Marshall not only for the -1 to courage, which makes the Knights's terror more effective but because he has enough will to resist a channeled panic steed or a Nature wrath.

Hmmm.....I am fighting elves, but I told my buddy Id tried to use as many models that are irregular(from our battles) as possible. Hes seen the shadowlord a handful of time.

Though lately, he hasnt......so maybe I will. I think the Morgul Knights alone have enough killing power against elves. I dont necessarily need the KOU or Dark Marshall. And the Shadow Lords magic is probably the best of the 3.

Thanks for the input guys. Any other suggestions out there?

The Dark Marshall's banner effect will be a godsend (or morgoth-send) when fighting the higher-fight-value elves. You need to be winning fights to have killing power, and the Dark Marshall's effect is invaluable when using the extra cavalry attacks. I'd recommend him to lead Morgul Knights any day over the Shadow Lord. Of course, this means you can't smack the Knights straight out in front of your army, but hold them back to be engaged after the lines meet, the better to make use of the Nazgul's banner.

Oh Ive seen him across the field from me. Was not fun. But a Thorin on Alfrid brand post workout shakes held him at bay for many turns.

Good point. I think I would choose the safer bet being the Shadow Lord usually as they suggested, but like I said I wanted to try a new wraith. The Dark Marshall is new to me. Ive only played against him and hes always a pain. Plus his fight 6 is nice to have if I meet an elf hero.

If you are playing against elves, probably you won't get out of the Terror and Harbinger of Evil benefit.
I'd try to keep the Morgul Knights behind your lines, using infantry to thin the enemy line before clashing against them. Two lines of elves spearmen with a banner would otherwise be more than able to counter your cavalry. Spearmen with bows are even worst.
