I'm not trying to open up a big can of worms here.

But I was going over aragorns stats in the wotr rulebook.

It plainly states that after going on an epic journey that aragorns formation cannot charge or shoot.

So How is a heroic charge any different?

a charge,is a charge,is a charge right?

Just trying to get my head around this combo so that I have it right rules wise and not screw it up 8)
thanks.

As you say, a Heroic Charge is just a charge that allows thr formation to go first.

No charge is no charge and there is no exception with heroic charges this let you only charge first.

If you could it would make an unbeatable combo, just going round the back of a formation then charging.

This is one of Bairchoro's favorite dirty tricks to use on me, but now that I actually read through the Heroic Charge rule I'm not sure it works.
He came up with a great formula for the different actions.

Normal Action<Heroic Action<Epic Action
(how this would work for things like Heroic Duel vs. Epic Duel I have no idea)

So in this case Epic Journey is an Epic Action so a Heroic Charge would not be able to override it. On top of that I thought that it said in Heroic Charge that you could charge even if you had shot that turn or used an At the Double! After reading it again it just looks like it's for charging out of sequence. In Heroic Shoot it specifies that using it will let you shoot even if you moved (whether just full distance or by using a Heroic Move, an At the Double! or whatever) Heroic Charge just says that you will "Charge before other models that are not making Heroic Actions."

So it looks like if you did an Epic Journey you're just going to have to wait till next turn to get the charge off.

:-X You got to be kidding me ... Now i'm going to spend the rest of my afternoon at work scouring the rulebook to find some way to support my ONE cool move. Sorry, guys - I can't code anymore today ... i'm going to be looking at War of the Rings! LOL!!

Oh, and Happy Birthday, today (10/2), Jayha85!!

Not to completely derail the topic, but I know someone else whose birthday was today. AND Ireland voted on the Lisbon Treaty today. (My, certainly is a busy 10th of October!) Happy Birthday Jayha! :)

@Jayha85: well you were one of the ones that got me thinking about the combo in question.

So I hope that I don't sound like I am second guessing you or stepping on your toes. :)

I already break enough rules in this game by mixing my armies and not following the 25% allies rules

Besides: I found something a little more fun to play with. 8)

Legolas + Galladhrim knights. 4 attacks+ legolas being in the group allows them to charge as monsters

If any of you thought GLorfindal was nuts  this is like a whole formation of mini Glorfindals :yay:

Oh,and "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" :D
Mines next week on the 8th
the big 39 for me.

Thanks fellas! :D and don't worry about it at all Thunder. That's what these forums are for after all. Me and Bair have played more games then I can count, and we're BOTH still learning new little tips and tricks.
Here's to a game that won't rot the brain! :yay:

Cheers!
