can shelob only be played in scenarios? because some people say yes and one of the GW guys said you can play her anytime. |

Anytime. She's in the LoME as far as I know. You can't use Tom Bombadil or Goldberry, though, just in case you were thinking about it. |

Don't see why not. Out of curiosity, did the person who said you couldn't ever give a reason? |

Yes, but she can't be your leader. That means you can't use her as a captain to ally with Cirith Ungol troops. |

Shelob is in the Cirith Ungol list but may not be your leader for warriors. I played a lot with her and had Shagrat with shield as the leader for the mordor Uruk-hai and orks. Shelob is worth every point, she scares the opponent for her few points. With her speed and high fightvalue she is very good for a lot of scenario's. |

Well next time you see him, kindly let him know that he's mistaken. And see if you can get a reason why he thought that- I'm rather curious. |

Shelob is the mainstay of almost all my armies, if someone told me I can't use her I'd take it personally. |

Maybe the guy was thinking along the theming lines rather than LOME legalities, I mean, since when did Shelob join an army? |

Even as far as themeing goes, it's fair enough to include her as part of a Cirith Ungol force, as that's where she resides. Even if she isn't really 'part' of the army, obviously she is working to her own agenda. It would be different I guess for pick up games, where your CU army is on the march across Middle-earth, as she wouldn't leave, but as long as you were playing a game located under Cirith Ungol she fits right in. Maybe it was wishful thinking because he's been spanked by multiple Spider Queen armies? Maybe he suffers from arachnophobia? |

Actually since she's considered a "Legendary Formation" and it doesn't say "Shelob may not be chosen as your leader" like it says for guys like Gollum or Grima, you absolutely could use her as your force leader. Granted like was mentioned before if you're going for strict realism it wouldn't seem to fit, but as far as rules go you'd be just fine. |

1. 2. The question is regarding the SBG. If you read the original posting date, you will see it precedes WotR by a few months... |

Moryk87: Yes, in the sbg game you need a leader for Cirith Ungol if you want to play with Shelob. But there are a lot of options these days: Shagrat(old and new version) Gorbag. orc captain shamaan drummer taskmaster. And for a lot of tournament they allow a ringwraith to be a leader for any mordor force. For War of the Ring she count as a legendary formaiton and can be a leader for any mordor force you want. She could be nice for sceanrio's where you must kill the main hero. she stays in Ambush the whole game and never could be killed |

Ok, thx. I will try play her with shagrat instead Witch-king, but I hate her Hunting Instincty rule, but without this rule she will be OP. I also thinking to use two castellans instead her. Ours tournament not allow this rule. For now I play only SBG. |
