About Sons of Eorl, Well I don´t think that they are too bad, like an elite cavalry with 3 attacks, it is quite devastating BUT ONLY ONE WOUND for 22 pts its kinda rubbish... Take Giant Spiders or Dunedain for an Example, they cost aprox. the same, but have either a fate point or two wounds...

And you can almost get two cavalry models for the same cost...

So, what part of the Sons of Eorl is not "too bad?"

Well they are similar to Mahuds on Camels except they dont get the impaler rule... and they are not that overpriced... but one wound does make them vulnerable :rofl

and they have a decent stats line...

@ Mouth of Sauron:

235 pts is well spent and would happily take on your horde in a 700 pt game.

Furthermore, on 2 Dice there is and increased chance of rolling a six. The probability is just less than 2/6. Chances are increased again when rolling 3 dice. The reason for this is that the total # of possible results remains the same (you COULD roll a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6) while the total number of results is increased. (1 dice, 1 result; 2 dice, 2 results w/ a 1/6 of having 1 result, i.e. rolling doubles)

well the spell u say is so useless can b very versatile but for example knocking an enemy off an objective late in the game or keeping a particular nasty monster at a safe distance for example times when u have a nasty hero able to charge your leader if they were to win priority next turn tht spell eliminates that charge possiblity its very useful thought not damaging its all depends on creating the circumstances to use them

The point is that there is so much upside to a Stormcaller that it is a substantially better than simply adding an unnamed captain.

Agreed. Just having the ability to cast Nature's wrath is brilliant. 1 attack and 1 less might is not such a big deal IMO.

Well as you wish, still I say taht Stormcaller sucks... With 3 will only and a slight chance of getting will back... i think i can live up a few natures wraths...

and one point of attack or might is not such a big deal??? WOW why then use heroes anyway`?`?? Let´s just field a Nazgyl or a 1 attack and wound hero and a bunch of warriors...

And aren´t you forgeting about heroic moves? or fights?

The best things in the whole game...

Feel free to play with him, or say what you want on his account, but I´ll stick with my opinion Stormcaller sucks...

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit... Anyway, having low stats dosen't matter very much as he's cheap and a spellcaster. I don't think you are very experienced with nature's wrath by the look of your posts...

I don't think anyone is suggesting him as a primary combat leader. But as a supporting spell caster he looks to be a good option. And any chance of gaining a point of M/W/F back is better than none. Erkenbrand has the chance of regaining Might and, though it only works out some times, makes a big difference. In SBG most generic casters only get a couple shots with a spell like Transfix (and none have Natures Wrath). So any chance to recover Will and get a "free" cast is better than no chance at all.

I thought Eorl was the guy who had a chance of regaining might. Erkenbrand has the Horn of the Hammerhand, that's all.

Yup, Eorl is the one with "Hero of Legend".

Urm... that the storm-caller isn't as bad as you make it out to be. How else do arguments start out? One person states his opinion and another states his. The opinions clash and they both try to prove that the other is in the wrong.

You will agree with our opinions, we will make you. *evil laugh*

This is not sarcasm? You're saying that it's a good idea to have only a 1 attack and wound hero with a bunch of warriors?

Well, I think that's a horrible idea.
