Hi everyone,

Can a wizard who has the Strengthen Will spell target himself/herself?

Cheers,
Michael

Nope. You can cast Renew on yourself though.

Thanks for the note Dr. Grant. Was this clarified in the rulebook itself or possibly via a FAQ?

I guess the confusion (in my eyes) lies to the fact that a spell like Blinding Light shows target as "self". But the description in Strengthen Will states any friendly model within x range.

The wording of the rule is kind of worded awkward as I would consider myself friendly to myself if that makes any sense.

(To clarify: I am using The Hobbit rulebook from the Escape from Goblin Town set) but I also have other sourcebooks as well.

Cheers,
Michael

As a new user is the official or GBHL Community FAQ posted/sticky somewhere? I can't seem to find any active links on the GW site or the forum without wading through a bunch of forum topics.

Cheers,
Michael

Thanks for the links Southy.

As the mighty Duendain says it's in the latest official FAQ. It's worth pointing out celticgriffon that the reason it's in there is because the wording is confusing so you're quite right - it was a very common question.

Also, just to clarify, the FAQs on the Black Library page are official - published by Games Workshop and mandatory corrections to the rules.

The Community FAQ on the other hand is not official. It's produced by us to clear up problems and ensure that all Great British Hobbit League tournaments have similar rulings. It is used at every tournament in Britain but there is no reason that anyone else has to use it. That said, it has proven a very popular addition to the scene and is now semi-sanctioned by GW in that if often contains official GW rulings before the Official FAQs have been updated. It's also currently being translated into German for their league which is kinda cool.

Hope that helps and that you find it useful!

That actually is the correct way to think about, as that's the same way that Renew is worded, however, as noted above, it is in a FAQ that it can't self-target.
