As the title states, do abilities like Orcbane and other abilities, like the Rivendell battlehost abilities to re-roll dice results of 1s against Orcs; do these abilities also affect Uruk-Hai? I could be mistaken, but to my knowledge, in the Lord of the Rings trilogy of books, Uruk-Hai are considered Orcs. But, in the army entries in the War of the Ring rulebook, it states Uruk-Hai units are type: Uruk-Hai instead of Orc or man, or whatever. Just trying to make sure we play the game correctly.

No, Urukbane would affect Uruk-hai, Orcbane affects all those units that have Orc listed as their Race.

Interesting but I have yet to see a unit that actually has uruk-bane.

Thanks everyone for the quick, concise, clear responses. I've posted a couple questions before and have been less than impressed with the types of reponses and attitudes expressed in those reponses. I expected that everyone would be on the same page of agreeing that Uruk-Hai are not considered Orcs for the purposes of these rules but just wanted some clarification. It definitely makes sense as far as gameplay goes. Thanks.

As far as hate on orc-folk is the same as orc bane it affects orcs,goblins and Uruks.

WotR has specific rules stating that a unit is type: Uruk-hai or type: Orc (or spirit or man or elf or whatever else) and the Bane rules specifiy that it affects only units of that type. E.G. Trollbane only affects trolls (but not half-trolls as their type is listed as man).

So, to answer the questions, Orcbane does not affect Uruk-hai (such as fighting Uruk-hai, beserkers, scouts, etc...).

I think the thematic reason why there are no Urukbane weapons is that Uruk-hai are a fairly newly created race developed exclusively for the War of the ring (actual war, not the game in this context) whereas Goblins and Orcs have been around for centuries and the elves specifically made weapons with orcbane, or goblinbane, in the first and 2nd ages. That would be my guess why there is no Urukbane weapons in the game system and also why orcbane does not apply to them.

They are, the Uruk-hai are just another breed (admittedly a much stronger breed) of orcs.
