We (grandchildren and I) have been playing for just over a year and our games have been more fun than competition based. Now Callum, the oldest grandson, is playing against some older lads who are more competitive and Callum wants to play a Gondor army as well as his favourite Orcs.

Following up on the advice given in another thread we looked at Beregond as part of the army in particular as a "captain" of the Citadel Guard archer warband. However, his stats are inferior to a Gondor Captain in attacks, wounds and might.

If we put him in the army what is the best way to employ him?

Thanks

One of the main benefits of Beregond (and Damrod) is that they are very cheap in points allowing you to take more models. I usually use him with a warband of Citadel Guard archers and try to keep them away from the enemy as long as possible.

One of the benefits of Beregond is that you aren't tying up points (and Might) you could be using somewhere else on the battlefield. I find if I take a captain to lead a group of archers, they either leave them to join the frontline or they end up away from it not using their Might.
