Post subject:  Question About The Hobbit Rulebook

Hi Everyone,

I have recently started collecting again after a long absence.

I obviously want the up to date rulebook (the £50.00 one!) so will be buying the Hobbit rules.

Does this contain stats for all characters or just those in the Hobbit. i.e does it have easterling, uruk-hai, men of rohan profiles.

I'm guessing that it does not and that I will have to buy many sourcebooks. (I see Games Workshop have become greedy whilst I've been away).

Thanks in advance!

Yup, unfortunately it only contains profiles for the new (Hobbit) range of models. For any other stats, you're gonna have to invest in their faction sourcebooks.

Sorry for the bad news!

Just a little correction, the Hardback Hobbit book does contain all the stats for everything from the LOTR range, it just doesn't have any of their points costs or special rules. They're all presented in a summary section in the back.

I'm actually in the minority (I think) in that I think the big hardback book is a really good product, it's a lovely book to flick through with nice production values and, for the moment at least, the only place to get Hobbit scenarios and rules. We're not gonna know how 'Permanent' the book is until the next movie comes out and we see what direction GW go with sourcebooks/rulebooks etc.

If I was you I'd probably pick up the mini-Hobbit rulebook from eBay (you shouldn't have to pay more than £15) and get the sourcebook for the faction you like the look of the most. Then, come December, see how things stand in regards to buying the Hobbit profiles/rules. Rumour has it there'll be a surcebook out by then.
