Hey

In which army source book(s) can I find the stats for 'Wild wargs / Wild Warg Chieftain'?

I'm going to start a battle companies whith wargs. In the starting force there're two wild wargs. As I understand are these wargs with no rider;
Why are the most painted white?

Thanks

The Ruin of Arnor has the profiles, they are painted white to represent the White Wargs, you can paint them how you like.

They are also in the fall of the necromancer book. So you can't really go wrong.

None, unless he's being eaten.

There was once a particularly bad winter when wargs attacked the Shire. That's why they're often painted white. Personally I think it looks much better in the light brown scheme from the films, but you can paint yours however you please (black wargs might work well).

Does a 'wild warg'/ 'wild warg chieftain' count als calvery?
Do they receive the charge bonus (+1 attack / knocked to the ground)?

Thanks

I think this is the most common question for new players...heck, I asked it and the answer was disappointing at the time :)

Answer is "No, no, no"

They do in War of the Ring, but not, apparently, in the Strategy Battle Game.

The concept in SBG being it is the combined force and momentum of the mount/rider along with the intelligence guidance of the rider that provides the Charge bonuses. Non-mounted critters don't get it. I was ok with that since an SBG Wild Warg is about the same price as an SBG Orc and I felt they were equally effective (one gives you a little higher Defense and Fight, the other more speed and Strength...choose based on need). They were hardly used in our local group so it also helped my force stand out.

WotR treats all Cavalry the same so Wild Wargs get the same bonus (+6 dice when charging Infantry) and combine that with the Prowler special rule they can be a very scary force to face. Having 10+ Companies of puppies on the table has really proven effective (usually operate them in a few small groups of 2-3 Companies each to give more targets for my enemy while spreading my chances of nailing Flank and Rear charges).
