Hi all,

I have played each scenario in the EFGT starter set, and i'm currently trying to practice painting and paint up every model before i expand. My figures aren't that greatly painted, have only painted 10, but it's a start and i really think i can see some improvement comparing the last to the first model :)

Anywhooo, i would love to play point-match games. Unfortunately, i don't think it is fun to play without some "normal troops", and since the good side only get heroes it's hard to make a force with them, although i guess you could. The evil side, however, already has both heroes and troops in the set so they are good to go (i also bought the Trolls :P)

I've always been a good fan of Gondor and Rohan, and seeing as they are part of the same source book, that might be a good place to start. So, how does one start? do i just pick up the sourcebook to get the points, buy some riders and soldiers and i'm good to go? can i both field, say Thorin and have him lead a band of Gondor warriors? Or does a warband of warriors have to be lead by the same faction? (Rohan riders being led by a Rohan hero, Gondor soldiers by a Gondor hero?).

Thanks on advance

Your second point is correct. Warriors may only be led by heroes from their faction. Yeah, best bet would be to buy the relevant sourcebooks and some basic troops then you're good from there.

Hello Seerex,

It totally depends on what you want to go for, are you a Gondor fan, a Rohan fan or perhaps you are a Dwarven fan after fighting with Thorin's company in some of the scenario games. This far into the release schedule a Dwarven army would be a great idea, and can be made up from the hardback rulebook using Grimhammers, Thror, Warriors of Erebor etc.

If you want to go a different way, Kingdoms of Men covers Gondor and Rohan. Fallen Realms covers the likes of Harad and Easterlings, free peoples covers your elves etc. Its that big decision upon which army to collect. I currently collect Isengard and am in the process of starting up an Erebor Army myself, hence the slightly biased opinion above hehe. Hopefully this helps and the forum will be quick to answer any questions you have I am sure :)

Cheers,
Green Dragon
