I doubt I'd use more than two ever in SBG, probably just one, but in WotR they are pretty cheap when you're looking at a 1500 - 2000 point force that I could see playing 3.

Hence why fighting Fallen Realms can be a nightmare for my poor Rohirrim. Oh well.

Going back to the original topic, in my opinion, Fallen Realms is the best/second best evil army of WOTR and SBG.

Number 1, they have no troops with fight or courage values lower than 3.
Number 2, they're not orcs, mini-orcs (Goblins) or big-orcs (Uruks).
Number 3, they are versatile.
Number 4, they look better than most of the Good Kingdoms!

Haradrim are an army that is quick and easy to build, especially in WOTR where bow limits don't exist. 2 Boxes of Raiders and 2 Boxes of Haradrim Warriors leads to 6 companies of cavalry and 6 companies of infantry which leads to a good start to a 500pt WOTR Army. Haradrim are fragile, but strength in numbers and strength in archers can win the day.

Easterlings are a slightly slower army to build, needing 2 boxes of warriors to build 5 companies. With about 4 Boxes of Easterling Warriors you have an army with 10 companies of infantry but takes up more points in battle. Less fragile and able to be armed with pikes, Easterlings can carry the day well.

In terms of heroes, if you take a Haradrim-based core I would use the Shadowlord(weaken those elvish bows and dwarven seige weapons) or the Betrayer (strengthen your own bows). If you go with an Easterling-core, Khamul is hands-down the Nazgul for the job though I would recommend Amdur, Lord of Blades as a 2-IC.

You can always make a FR army and ally in some MM monsters if you want.

I could see a FR army of Easterlings with a Dragon allied in. 8)

If you were using Half Trolls in your Harad/Far Harad force then why not include some Cave Trolls perhaps?

I'm not sure about having FR forces allied in with MM, but the other way around may not be too odd if you think it through.

For myself my Harad army is including some things from the MM list, but not in a direct way. I'm still looking for the proper proxies (probably toys if I can find a close scale), but I will be including "Wild Wargs" in the form of lion packs and "Giant Spiders" in the form of leapord packs. My Harad king (using Amdur's Profile rather than Suladan), you see, is very very rich and enjoys a rather extensive collection of animals (he also has three Mumakil).

By the by, the Half-Trolls were mentioned in the book as being from Khand, not Far Harad. The Khandish men were NOT Japanese, they were short broad men, more like dwarves than anything. The only thing I like about the Age of the King is that they got the Khandish warriors right.

Yeah, one of the liberties that PJ took with the films, and GW just expanded on that.

No, they weren't. Quote from actual book:

Quote:
Black men like Half Trolls from Far Harad

And what you say about Khnad men is in fact Easterlings, nothing is known about Khand.

I haven't read it in a long time, I have the other 2 vomlumes, but not RotK. I was sure that the variags of Khand were mentioned as the "half trolls".

No the full quote is:

Quote:
Gothmog the lieutennant of Morgul had flung them into the fray; Easterlings with axes, and Variags of Khand, Southrons in scarlet, and out of Far Harad black men like half-trolls with white eyes and red tongues

I like it.

Might be a little pricey, but there is a chariot model in the WFB range that is drawn by 2 lions. Expensive to get a lot of the though.

Another alternative is the Dire Lion miniature from one of the older D&D mini sets. Looks pretty cool and is on JUST slightly bigger than 40mm base.

Don't know about the leopard though.

Oooh. Giant Hippo for a cave drake?
