Just found this after looking through google lol. Its great and extremely cheap. Check the 'fantasy realm' section out - so many bargains :shock:

im going to buy some of those river sections i think and perhaps a bridge.

I had forgotten all about them! Two of the houses are very good stand-ins for Rohan, with a little adaptation, and the Merchants House could be used in Bree.

Never really liked the Amera stuff. They have great and useful products for hobbyists with little time or skill that are looking for decent terrain. But that's it in my eyes, for me the quality is too low - I'd rather make it myself.

lol, i know there is little detail, but for £1.75 for a piece of river section - it makes 'making it' seem like a whole waste of time IMO. I would rather spend time on something exciting like for instance 'Moria' :wink:

does anyone else know of any terrain suppliers apart from through ebay, GW?

thanks Valpas for the link, i just read the article. I still plan to convert the bridge so that there is a hole through it which shouldn't be to hard.

Obviously 'Everyone' is entitled to their own oppinion, but you do need to take into consideration 'The Skills' of the individual members. Personally, I would never touch them, I would prefer to scratch build for myself, however I have seen quite alot of the Amera range and albeit a lot of it is very bad (in my own oppinion), a lot of it is quite good too and offers a quick and easy way to get terrain on your battlefield.

I was wondering which pieces are good and which aren't. Personally i dont want the weathertop one as it has no resemblance and looks very poor. But my thinking behind the river section is that you could buy a few of them and then convert them by adding gravel/sand.etc and that water look-a-like liquid. All that could save hours of designing and cutting out.

Though i do agree that it is very basic and could not offer much to a battlefield without a lot of conversion and modelling work

At which point you might as well scratch build it.

Again ! this is down to each individuals capability and a lot of members here may not have the necessary skills required.

The Amera 'river sections' in my oppinion are a perfect example of 'bad' terrain. Now dont get me wrong, these kind of things are ideal for getting some natural terrain on the board quickly, they also have the advantage of being moved from different gaming tables. However, a lot of us here look for 'realism', therefore with the river sections, have you ever seen a river that is at 'ground level' ? The answer is no, a river is always below ground level. However, if painted well, it makes quick, cheap and easy instant terrain !

I dont really want to name what I think is good or what is bad. Painting skill alone will transform 'any' of the pieces Amera has to offer.

good point :oops:

but if you look at Bgime packs they have ideas for creating rivers similar to the look achieved with these moulds. However I may just make a few boards that can be moved around and re-positioned instead...

That way i can achieve variety and have a realistic river :wink:

Make it yourself!

imo amera = big doo-doos! And that's being polite!:wink:

Better to make something yourself (even if it's not very good) than spend money on something that's not very good!

Anyway, you seem to be a pretty skilled modeller to me, Jack. Don't buy that tack!
