Hi all I got this game 2 years ago and I find it incredible fun. The only dissapointment was the lack of heros. I am surprised they did not include characters like Gothmog and Gamling. A really fun thing to do is be Isengard and line up a lot of explosive mines in the same area and lure your enemies strong worriers to it and use Sarumans fireball to set them off. This is great for taking care of that pesky Balrog. I occasionally do online play but I am so defensive I always get flogged. What do you guys think of this game and are there any tips?I am also keen to know how good is the seconed game? All help appreciated, Hza |

This is the computer games you are referring to? You might want to make that a little bit clearer in the title. I do not play computer fantasy games myself - I am more the Mechwarrior, Blitzkrieg and Supreme Commander type (with forays into flight sims and so forth) but there are bound to be a few first-person slayers around here.... |

Sorry about that, I didnt get much rest last night. Yes it is a PC game and I highly recommend it to any1 who likes LOTR. I think Rohan is the strongest in the game because of the Elves, Ents and the heros like Aragon, Gimli and Legolas. Hza |

Well... all 4 armies have their strong and weak points. When playing Rohan, I usually base my force on Rohirrim archers with all the upgrades, when Gondor, rangers with all the upgrades (watch out for enemy cavalry though!), and when Isengard and Mordor... well I don't really play them I being myself a BFME noob, I can't tell you which army is better... all I can say is it depends on your preference... mine for example is Gondor (dno why ) |

Well the 2 one is eh well, good but not that good. The one big problem is Rohan and Gondor are mixed and called "The Men of the West" Then there are Elves (mixed Wood-, High- and Rivendell elves) Dwarves Goblins (with spiders , dragons, drakes and suprisingly "SHELOB" !!!) Izengard (with Dunland) And if you get your hands on the expansion pack you get a new faction "Angmar" which well isn't quite good at all IMO, but alon with the faction come a few new troops and make overs in the game. The game it self is a rahter good one, but the thing is, the factions could have been made better well c'mon Rohan and Gondor together? no way, not to talk about elves. But in the whole I like the game, and the War of the Ring (like campaing) is very well done IMHO Havent played the 1 game acctually, but i was interested in it |

The original Battle of Middle Earth is fun but does have limitations. I have always found that each army has strengths and weaknesses. It really depends on who your opponent is. For more expanded play, try Battle of Middle Earth II. It has more heroes and options. I have found that the Mordor army in the II version is very strong and you can build Mumaks, troll pens and other cool troops. JT |

This game is a lot of fun - but very easy to thrash. You asked for tips? When you have nearly, but not quite, won a game in a campaign, DO NOT wipe out the enemy totally until... you have got your maximum troop allowance and upgraded all those troops to the max. It is also a good idea to get your heroes up a level or two really early on in the campaign. Because you carry your troops with you to the next part of the campaign, it is brilliant having a very well experienced group of warriors to start with. Each group can increase their experience through combat, and through heroes' powers. Get them up to level 10 as quickly as you can. Rohan is almost certainly the best army and the best Rohan troops are the archers. Get them in heavy armour and give them fire arrows. With their speed, and the destructive force of the fire arrows, you can whip the enemy. I usually used two or three large groups of these. When the group at the front began to be weakened, I'd pull it back (to be healed) and send in the next group and so on. When the first group had all their green bits back and missing members had 'regenerated', I'd send them back into the fray. Never let a group of warriors get totally wiped out. This is a huge waste of resources. As long as your group has a banner, they will automatically regenerate destroyed troops until you have a full unit once more - given enough time. I hope that this helps - without destroying the fun. Using these methods for both good and evil troops I found that I could easily win any and every battle with no worries at all. |

I totally agree with Natarn... upgrade all your troops to the max as early as possible... |

The PC version of BfME II must be massively different to the offering on the 360 then... Its a bit basic to be honest, good fun, but basic. Can't help with the first one I'm afraid, havn't played it. I'm enjoying Conquest |

The thing i like most is the heroes (the strong ones though, not the ones that dies against a unit of goblins like snaga or eowyn). IDK why, its just something satisfying about seeing boromir immobilize and then kill off a group of dwarf warriors in a couple of seconds |
