This piece portrays Colonel Dan Morgan ordering Riflemen Tim Murphy into a tree in order to shoot General Simon Fraser, who is leading a British counterattack. Murphy was considered the best shot in the Riflemen Brigade and Morgan realized that the battle was slipping away when this brave British Officer took the field. Legend has it that it took 3 shots for Murphy to hit Fraser.
Anyway this was a fun piece to make. There are 2 companion pieces showing the rest of the Rifle Corps at Saratoga, under construction.
I'll show then when they are finished.

My other passion besides LOTR, is American History from the F&I War up until the Wild West.
I enjoy making dioramas of battle scenes and have several thousand 28 mm AWI painted and based into various units. I'm pretty well know for my terrain work in the wargamers world and have written several articles
on my techniques.
Hope you enjoy this. I have dozens more if anyone is interested.

First I have to apologize for not seeing this and commenting earlier - the problem with looking at this site on a phone and not scrolling down far enough.

That said, excellent job! You did a great job of fitting Rifleman Murphy onto the tree limb, very natural looking (as natural as a rifleman on a limb would be :-) ). I definitely want to see more of your dioramas.

At what stage do you add the figures to your diorama? Build the grass, etc around them or place figures last?

Again, more please.

Map, This was just one piece of an interlocking 3 piece diorama. I didn't bother with putting the the pix up because nobody seemed interested.
Here are the other 2 pieces and all 3 together.
I have made dozens of AWI dioramas, as well as F&I War and ACW.

If you clik on one of the pictures it will take you into my Photobucket account which only has toy soldier stuff on it. I've made hundreds of dioramas/buildings/terrain pieces and have about 1,000 pix on there.

Let me know what you think...........Bill

PS are you into historical ?

Those are amazing dioramas, when I looked at your photobucket earlier I wondered if they tied together. Did I read elsewhere on this site that you produce miniatures also? Are the figures yours or what manufacturer?

Map, Yes the figures are all mine. Kings Mountain Miniatures.
Sometimes to get it right, you have to do it yourself.
