Post subject:  Temet Nosce's pixel art.... thing

So as some members who have been here for years may know, I used to be pretty active. That dropped off when I went to university, and I also neglected the the hobby as well. However... contrary to popular belief I didn't stop painting....

I just took up a different kind of paint...

This is a picture I have working on for over 2 years now, its entirely created using Microsoft paint, and drawing each pixel individually (Well I used the fill tool and the line tool, which is wrong according to elitists). It's taken me countless hours so far (I'm talking over about 500 probably), but for some reason I find it very rewarding, and I've been told its kind of cool (its also where my avatar comes from)

I have a list of things I keep meaning to add thats 50+ at least. And each thing I draw gets slightly better. I don't really intend this to be ever finished, its gonna get bigger and bigger and bigger. Pretty much all the things in this picture have had some sort of meaning in my life, whether its been a defining moment, or just something I enjoyed watching on TV as a child. I'm sort of keeping it as an overall memory of my life.

At my last count its was about 250 pop culture references, I don't even really remember whats all on there anymore. But there is a lot more to come. I hope to have a few updates soon!

Anyway, Ive rambled on far too much here. So without further ado, here is the picture (Click on it to get a bigger picture, its pretty large)

Hmmm looking at that thumbnail, I'm not happy with the blending from the sky to the space, I will look into fixing that..

Hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed creating it so far. Here is a game for you as well... try to name as many pop culture references as you can (all in one post please!). GO!

I've seen this projects grow pretty much since pixel 1 so I already know pretty much all the references... Don't want to spoil it for the other members.

Really good stuff Nosce, both the ideas and the actual pixel drawings. It's stunning really, and you better remember that you promised me a signed copy... if ever gets finished. :P

My personal favorites are Bean, Master Chief and Trash Nosce. Gotta love those, but all the others are great too... and there's hidden stuff everywhere. Frasier and Ring reference are very well done!

Keep it up Robbie!

It's nice to see your masterpiece on OR, Rob. I remember when you showed me this a while ago, it took me around an hour to stop laughing. The amount of time and effort you put into this really shows, its simply fantastic. It's hard to say which part I like best (It's all so good! :D ), but if I had to choose I'd say the snowman. I've been meaning to find that video on YouTube again.

Can't wait for TMNT to be added in.

Keep up the awesome work, Robber! 8)

That's just scary, Rob. Though I have to admit, it was extremely cool.

I remember you showed me this a couple of years ago aswell, I only never realised you made it completely pixel-by-pixel in paint!!
It's incredible I think! Even that long time ago I started to look t it and it's so full of nice things everyone will recognise, and it makes you wanna discover even more! It's something you start to look at like... "what in god's name is tht supposed to be?" .. then you recognise something.. "hehe, that guy is from the A-team!" .. "oh, and there's Robin Hood!" and then you just keep stuck on the pic looking for more and more, tryting not to overlook something...

Sneaky thing you made there Rob! But oh so awesome!! 8)

Err, I have to confess that when I read the title I thought it said 'Pixie art'... which painted quite a disturbing mental image (a seven foot tall pixie!)

Well done - it takes a lot of patience as well as skill to come up with those images.

I still cannot erase the pixie thing from my mind.... oh God.....

Thanks all, I'm glad you like it :)

@Anduril Blade of Kings - Haha, he's not on there, nor is he on my list... he is now tho! I can imagine him being fun to draw, so might even be the next thing I add!

@Dorth - Now I want to put some pixies on it.... or I could just say the people in the bottom left playing Rock Band are playing a pixies song.... :P (Oh and I'll be sure to email you a picture of me dressed as a pixie of course. You will NEVER be able to erase that from your mind once you see it)

We have all seen Gaarew in a pink dress - after that traumatic experience, the image of you as an eight foot pixie will be, as they say here, 'wee buns'. (trans: 'no problemo')

Do some LotR pixel art! 8)
