I have to agree, especially on the latter half of that sentence :-D . I think those guys were rushed a bit.

YES! They are! Everything about the IG is soooo far superior to the SM's. Except that Dreadnoughts are cool.... :)

Every time I go into my local GW I pick up that commissar and have to talk myself out of buying it. It's a gorgeous sculpt.

Looking forward to seeing it finished. Have you decided what colour you're doing the... whatever the glowy bit is on the plasma gun yet?

Not yet. Maybe blue. :-D Although that would hardly be original of me......

What color do ya'll think it should be?

Well, blue is common largely because it works so nicely! I'd go for dark blue in the recesses with a stark highlight, myself.

Sorry guys, no updates on the commissar, but here's an AOBR Terminator Sergeant I finished today. I honestly believe he might be my best work so far......I can't see how Olofer and the other pros do what they do with a paintbrush....

I tried to go for a blue streaky glow effect on the sword, hope you like :)

He looks very good, but you can do better than this Josh! There are lots of areas where you've just left the black basecoat - what about those lights on his armour near his head for instance? And the highlights on the blue armour are a bit to stark in places.
The gold is very well done and so too is his face, but I'm sure you're capable of more! 8)

Whoops! I said finished, didn't I? :?

I'm really just setting him down for now, in favor of the Ork Warboss, which is turning out so much more fun to paint......

Anywhere in particular? I don't quite see that myself......I mean, in the AOBR starter book, the display Space Marines have pure white highlights in places. :?

Do you think his storm bolter looks a little too rough? I think that's about the only part I really rushed....

But I'm glad you like the gold! That's what I spent longest on. :)

That would explain it! The Warboss is indeed a great model; I'm looking foward to seeing some pics of it!

That's because the majority of the painting in that book is [word deleted]. I certainly hope it wasn't 'Eavy Metal who painted them...

2nd picture down, left leg and some of the highlights on his back.

Yeah the two metal areas are quite a contrast: the gold being quite beautiful while the silver "storm bolter" is...er...less so. It wouldn't take too long to improve it.

Thanks. I needed some criticism to get me painting again--I was starting to get a slight case of painter's block. :o

AOBR Ork Nob WIP (I tried to go for a different skintone than GW.) I hope you like his warpaint. :)

Back: (I need to re-undercoat the back, I watered down my Chaos Black too much.

I think I may have left the recesses of his muscles too dark, what do ya'll think? And I need to redo his left arm. These AOBR minis don't seem to be turning out like I want them too.....:(

C&C welcome :)

Nice work on the Ork Nob, I much prefer it to your Space Marines. The flesh and warpaint are well painted and the metallics on the axehead look very nice :)

As for criticism, perhaps you could have used some more intermediate highlights for the green areas of skin. Or alternatively take it a little higher?

Keep up the good work 8)

The metalwork on your Nob looks great! Personally, I like a high contrast highlight for tabletop minis. At that distance, it helps give the miniature definition. Low-contrast is definitely better for display purposes. I guess you just need to ask yourself what is the purpose for painting the mini: play or display?

Wonderful work, Anduril. The flesh is fantastic, and the war paint compliments it well. I also love the axe. Great work. 8)

Both :)

I've decided to start playing 40k, but I just got a brand new handy-dandy display case that I intend to use to showcase the better ones when I'm not playing with them. :)

Hmm....Maybe 1 more, stark highlight on the skin.

I'm glad everyone seems to like the axe :)

Small update, but an update nontheless. I worked for quite a while on his eye lens-thing, I hope you like it. :) Also painted his ammo clip and the metal plate on his leg.

Can't see the ammo clip very well but the metal plate looks great and the eye lense in spot on! The time spent painting it was worth it :)
