Here's my latest non-LOTR work, a pair of Crimson Fists space marines:

Both are still WIP, need some cleanup work especially on the blue highlights, but are near completion. :)

Please tell me what you think! :D

the armour and silver are great . . . the only criticism is the eyes . . . they could be a bit lighter

Thanks FoF. Eyes are still somewhat WIP, but I will make them lighter than I intended to. 8)

You need to water down your paints a little more. Also, I would do some darker highlights. I assume you're painting with Regal Blue and Ultramarines blue, so add little bits of ultra to regal for 1-2 highlighting stages, starting off with thicker highlights until you get to really fine thin highlights.

Thanks for the advice :-D

The first color is actually regal blue and chaos black with a teeny bit of codex gray. But the highlight is with ultramarines blue. 8). The pics are significantly brighter than the actual miniatures.

I'll try that when I get back to finishing them. :)

Nice job on the highlights! ...although I must wonder, what is that thing they're standing on?

It's a piece of concrete. All I had at the time.....no, they're not glued, they'll be attached to a board before too long. 8)

Another WIP, a Daemonhunters Gray Knight Terminator with Nemesis Force Weapon.

Gold is done, cloth is nearly done, nothing else has been started yet.

Please leave C&C. :)

Looking great so far! I don't have anything to critisize you on, except bad pics. Can't wait to see progress on it 8)

I like this last mini! Looks fun to paint. Not much to comment so far, but the ribbon looks nice.

The previous Crimson fists look nice, but I think the bases are a bit off. The rocky ground isnt wide enough and their feet seem to be somewhat hoovering in there.

Keep up with the good work! ;)

Thanks :-D

The space marines aren't actually attached to the concrete piece, that was just something to stick them on so they'd stop falling over and I could get a picture :-D .

I'll have an update up by Thursday. I've been too busy to paint very much lately. :x

Okay, here's the new story:

My Daemonhunter has come to a screeching halt, my Chainmail paint got left open by an inquisitive younger sibling and is now dried out. :x And I just ran out of Mithril Silver. I'll probably get some new paints at my local shop--64 miles away, for the record--in a few days, but until then, sorry, no updates on the Daemonhunter. :(

On a more positive note, rooting through some drawers I happened upon a metal Eldar Ranger Kneeling Observing and have decided to repaint it. So expect some pics on it within a few days! Any ideas for a color scheme? :?

belive me . . . you dont want to try NMM yet, not because your a bad painter, but because once you get into NMM you kind of stay fond of it . . . and even if you cant do it that good you will use it and have a bad looking mini?
take me for example  i jumped the gun on NMM and literally forgot how to paint using metalics
now i have to perfect NMM or i will never be able to paint decent metal (silly me)
im not saying you cant do it . . . but it is a very tricky thing.

From what i have seen it is pretty god . . . not much to comment on though
do you by any chance hand prime your models?
the black seems a little thick as if you hand painted it and (like me) just get bored and rush it lol . . . i do it a lot, that's why im buying a spray can.
if not you may want to use shorter bursts of your spray can and further away.
(wow . . . this is one of my longest comments)
im just telling you what ive learnt, so dont feel you CANT use NMM, if you want to you can.
keep up the great work :) (i only seem to paint a model a month and youre already doing double what i do lol)
FoF

Thanks, FoF.

I do hand-undercoat, I want some Chaos Black spray but it's not avaliable down here in North America. :x

I've only tried NMM once or twice, it's a real pain. :-X . I'm not very good with metal in the first place, though, so I might give it a go, despite what you say :P

Not really. I'm not feeling terrifically courageous right now.

It is bad news. I might, I repeat might give NMM a shot. After all, if I screw it up, there's a reason why Non-Aceton Nail Polish Remover was made.... :-D

I've started on another mini, an Imperial Guard commissar. :)

I'm quite pleased with how this fella's turning out, just needs another skin highlight or two, a few details done and then some touch-up on his buttons, and on to his arm! :)

That's a scar on his cheek, by the way

Thank you for the kind comments :)

I'll try and finish the rest of the fine details today, and work on his arm some tomorrow.

He looks very good! :yay: Really well done Josh, your painting has certainly improved from those earlier Space Marines...
...and anyway Imperial Guard are sooo much better! :-D
