I plan to attend an 800 pt tournament in a couple of months and want to practice as often as possible. I would appreciate some feedback on two potential lists I am considering. List one holds a special place in my heart as the scene with Haldir coming to the aid of man was a large inspiration for my younger self and started me on a lifelong journey of LOTR fandom but consequently I also want to do well.

List 1:
Theoden with heavy armor, armored horse, shield
14 riders of Rohan half with throwing spears
1 warrior of rohan on ft

Haldir with armor and bow
1 wood elf sentinel
1 guard of the galad court
8 galad warriors with bow
2 galad warrior with spear and shield

Rumil
4 galad warrior with spear and shield
5 galad warrior with shield
1 wood elf sentinel
1 guard of the galad court
1 banner with spear

Vs

List 2:
Celeborn fully kitted
6 galad warrior with shield
5 galad warrior with spear and shield
1 banner with spear

Galadriel
6 galad warrior with spear and shield
6 galad warrior with shield
1 wood elf sentinel
2 guard of the galad court

Haldir armor and bow
10 galad archers

I like the second one more, seems solid. First one might be more interesting to play with though with the cavalry contingent.

I think this list is nice, but I would sack the sentinel to give Rumil an elven cloak and a shield, and Haldir heavy armour and elven cloak.
Then sack the spar foot warrior of Rohan for an extra rider.
Just my thoughts.

I don't know if the elven cloaks will hold value if I'm going to be charging the elves up. Haldir perhaps it may be a good idea though. I did buy him the heavy armour already and I have to double check but I thought Rumil base comes with shield. My only concern with list 1 is being matched against monsters or balrog/sauron and having no clue how to deal with them. I think despite the awesome cavalry I'm feeling more comfortable with the second list.

Sentinels are not worth it. They cost too much for D3. Try and add some royal guard to your Rohan to get some F5. I would play second rank of elves as wood elves with spears and bow (low def) behind galadhrin with shield up front for D6. 1/2 guard of the galadhrim court to help against heroes and Rumil/Haldir are pretty good.
Be carefull not to lose Theoden as he is your general and provide a lot of value to your Rohan. Keep him safe at the beginning.

Might be true, but i'm very fond of dead marsh spectres who have a similar ability to move an enemy after a failed courage test. For instance, if the enemy has a monster, which generally has, at most, C4. You have a very decent chance of it failing its courage test and either lumbering into your lines unsupported ór standing still looking stupid for a turn.

Having said that, spectres are 10 pts cheaper. All i'm saying is try the sentinels out before you dismiss them. Look at them as mini mages rather then fighters!

They keep you safe while charging. The shield is an upgrade. As for big heroes like Sauron and the Balrog, harry them with elf bows and keep moving back. You are bound to get a 6/5, and 6/4 for the Balrog. Worst case scenario see if you can ally with artillery. I use a 60pt Balistae with my dwarf army, not sure if you can ally with them though.
