I would not go with the ballista. You may also want to try taking out the captain for more troops. maybe get enough for 10 archers so you can volley for a turn or too. An extra turn or two of archery never hurt. But that all depends on your play style. I personally love the high defense of Dwarves so I have no experience using Dwarf Rangers. |

He's only taking one of them. If he took both he would be over the points limit. But yeah i think you should take out the captain/ballista and get more troops. |

Personally I would either take two heroes or one with a banner. I normally either take Gimli and Balin to have a more heroic force with less numbers or Gimli/Balin with a banner for a more numerous force. Like others have suggested I would get at least ten archers. I would also use a greater mix of rangers and warriors. Using rangers with their longbows behind a wall of dwarf rangers allows you to pick off your opponent, and force them to come to you. Something I've also tried is a shield wall of warriors backed by an equal amount of rangers with throwing weapons with a contingent of warriors with dwarf bows off to the side to allow my warriors to move in quickly while still allowing the archers to shoot mostly unhindered. This also makes it harder for cavalry as they can't stay just out of ranger and charge you when they get priority and allows you to take out quite a few of your opponents warriors just before combat begins. An all ranger army works but I find that once you get into combat they really begin to let you down. |

But they lack a Dwarf army's greatest strength: high defence. |
