Looking for adivce as above, Am about to start on some uruk hero pieces and want to give them a little more tlc than the regular troops. who have really had just a base coat on the skin and more care on their armour.

Base Doombull but which wash for the skin ? I have the GW shades , as well as army painter dark and strong tone but which one ?. Should I try something else ?
Tuskar is the next shade up which with the base and wash should give a decent finish

I used "anthrax earthshade" of gw in mine and I liked the result.

Just had a little laugh at "anthrax earthshade", I think its 'agrax' haha. anyway you can slow highlight up to a reasonably bright red from doombull. or if you want similar to movies, just go from rhinox hide to a slightly lighter doombull.

yes you are right. Sorry about my spelling mistake

I don't recall the base red I used on Lurtz. I think it was actually a dark maroon craft paint! In any case, after basing his flesh, I just did a thinned black wash (something like thinned Nuln Oil). Finally I went back and added some highlights of the base color mixed with a flesh tone. You could certainly do much more with more layers but I think this give a pretty good look with out too much work.
