Has anyone thought of proxies Black Numenoreans as Gundabad orcs or converting fighting uruk-hai? They have very similar armour to uruk-hai...

I'd say the uruk hai would be best. If you were handy you could sculpt new shields and helmet crests Though their existing ones could be cut up and re arranged. A few spare hunter orc heads from the warhammer rider set might mark some out, captains maybe? Alternatively morannon orcs might look good if painted dark.

There was an article in a old white dwarf about converting them from pikemen/uruk. Way back maybe second addition, I believe it was in one of the White Dwarf reprints. I think I would use Wargame Factory heads.

I'm going to use fighting urukhai and maybe easterlings (with some head and weapon conversions).

the plastic uruk minis are a tad small however :/

Yeah warlord games orcs I cut up and mix with Uruk Hai and stuff.

Also, I like morannon orcs too. They look pretty cool and have the same wargear options. Plus theyre cool because they have different weapons like clubs axes etc

This is why Gundabad orcs are one of the lowest on my wishlist, they look like Isengard orcs and can be easily proxy for games.

I am planning on doing some conversions from plastic uruks at some point. They look very similar to me. I am going to sculpt some shields, alter the helmets and shave off the chain mail areas.

Sorry for reviving an old topic, but I am new here and got the answer to the topic starter's question... I have already done that and it worked magic!

http://ak1508.deviantart.com/art/Gundabad-Orcs-with-Swords-and-Shields-516202052?q=gallery%3Aak1508&qo=1

http://ak1508.deviantart.com/art/Gundabad-Orc-Swordsmen-516201981?q=gallery%3Aak1508&qo=2

http://ak1508.deviantart.com/art/Gundabad-Orc-Spearmen-516201797?q=gallery%3Aak1508&qo=3

And there is plenty more where that came from ;)

Next step would be getting a blister of them swordsmen and a single fig of a captain, and all of them will represent the captains, since they do look a tiny bit taller than uruks.

cheers!

those are taken mainly from the spare bits from Empire State troops halberds, and just converted to make them less bulky.

Haradrim, any chance to see those ones at all? you got any pictures of completed work at all on these orcs? Would be cool to see as well, maybe draw some ideas for inspiration for the future.. since no horde or orcs is ever really big enough, you just keep doing more and more :-D
