Khandish King mtd..., is it just me?

I have lots of Easterling Warriors, but no Kataphrakts.
So for casual gaming, I thought to ally in my Mounted Khandish.
They got those axes and can do the special strikes.
Albeit, without the penalty for having two handed weapons!

Looked to pick up a King mounted.
The King is not modeled with Chieftain's Axe?
He's holding a bow (???????). This seems completely nuts!!!!!!!!

So I started to compare the mtd bow models vs. mtd Khand King.
And the only thing that stands out is the flag, kinda'.
The flag has an additional tail on it.

Is making a mtd Khand King extremely easy?
Take Mtd Khandish w/bow give him an axe paint him differently.

I guess this is not so much a "help" post, but a musings one.

I think you mean Chieftain, not King. The king is on foot or Chariot and is completely different from all the other models.
The chieftain (or captain) for Khand on horse is very close to the other bowman with just the extra tail as you mentioned. But if you look at any captain model in Mordor, Gondor, Rohan, Elves.. they all are wearing the same armor as the troops they lead. This is normal. The Khand Chief on foot is easily different from the other foot troops.

In the end, yes you can just proxy a troop as a captain as long as it is clear which model is the captain for your opponent.

Aaaaahhhhhh.... now I get it.
And I could not see that axe at all!

I'll take one mounted bowmen and convert him for sure.
Looks a bit more complicated with their pose upon further examination.
That arm is molded pretty close to the head. Figure something out.
Get an axe on him someplace, may look slightly awkward in the bow hand.
Cut a banner off the other bowman from the kit, so he'll have two.
And that armor looks like I could greenstuff something represenative.
Over the robe, and maybe where it's open a bit on the front.

Thank you for pointing that all out, it was giving me a headache.

The King looks way different, and the Cheiftan looks as if he has a bigger robe.

IDK if you do it but some green stuff will help. I havent yet but Ima try it soon.

Why not trade the boman for a axeman on horse and tweak it a bit to be your Chief? Is already in a good pose to work with.

Yeah, that King is definitely different.
But so similar overall.
They never produced a Khandish King Mounted.
Just the Foot and Chariot one's.
I am going to give a conversion a go when it's time.
I can do a credible job converting, and polish the look with paint.

I don't want to sacrifice the axemen at all.
My preference is to keep 3 with axe and have a King.

To get that armor right, I think I am going to invest in a Dremel.
