Hi all

I've recently scuffed up a mini so I want to strip him and try again. Last time I tried using dettol but that didn't really work very well... Do you think white spirit work work?

The model is a metal by the way.

Thanks, Sid

I might try out acetone on an e-bay purchase later today?

White spirit works, yes, but as stated above, nail polish remover works miracles. :)

As long as it's not plastic it should work.

I actually stripped a few plastic minis with white spirit and it worked wonders. Didn't see any damage to the plastic, but since you're doing metal minis that's not even an issue.

actually white spirit is THE BEST way to remove paint from metal miniatures. That's what I use. Just dip the miniature in a white spirit solution for a couple of minutes and then you will see the paint come off effortlessly

How long do you let it soak for?

White spirit should be good, but nail varnish remover maybe slightly less smelly and kinder to skin

Nail varnish remover is good for all minis.. but just get the right type for the right models:

Acetone (standard) nail varnish remover is wonderful on metals. But will melt plastics! about 20 mins seems enough to soak into the paint.

NON-Acetone nail varnish remover works great on plastics. The best method I have found for plastics! Again, dip for about 20 minutes. and scrubs very lightly, and it should peel off. repeat if paint is caked on. and a lot less messier and a lot quicker than dettol...

Non Acetone will also work on metals, handily. Seems about as good as the regular acetone nail varnish. But I just buy the non-acetone stuff and then there is never any confusion with the pots...

(20 minutes is fine... just dont forget them and leave them over night! - the plastics get soft if immersed for more than 2 or 3 hours)
