If I may ask a question under your thread? How tall is Treebeard? I have a plastic Ent and I hope he is not much shorter, it would detract from his position of authority! |

I think hes a bit shorter, not sure exatly though, but this has nothing to do with autority trust me, watch the movie and see thre huge willows going to war, they make treebeard look like a baby, related to models, treebeard is the largest ent and the only one with a big beard, so |

From memory when the local GW had them both out Treebeard is about halfway between the metal and the plastic in height. He is also more detailed than either and looks more interested in what's going on so that might help with his position of authority. I would put him at about 10 and the metal at 8 |

But the fact that he is shorter than the other plastic Ents does make him look inferior nevertheless. Usually the bigger and stouter ones are the leaders. |

Not so with Ents, as some types of trees are naturally larger than others. Treebeard was the leader because he was the oldest. |

While he is shorter he is also stouter. He is more substantive than the thin plastic ent. And the height is not so significant that it will alter the mood. Of course the alternative is to use the older metal ents, but they are more rare and hard to come by (ebay price ranges from 50-80). Then of course there is also UKFreddyBear's Ents. They are really well done, but are also as tall or taller than Treebeard. I like a balance of all three options; gives a good variety. |

There are a few other steps you can take to reduce the visible difference. The base that came with Treebeard was very flat so I used one from a Troll instead (same base used by all other monsters I know of) to eliminate that initial difference. I then built the base up a little. Not so much that it looked like he was walking on a hill but enough to even things out a little better. http://tacticsinminiature.com/lotr-mainmenu/lotr-models/lotrmodelsgood/83-lotr-models-treebeard He is such a distinctive model though that even among a force of Ents I don't think he'll get lost visually. |
