Anyone converted Men of Dale for war of the ring or SBG? Any ideas.

I haven't converted any, but if I were going to, I'd just use the Rohan on-foot models - or, more likely, a stylistically similar Saxon army from another company. Eorl & friends were supposed to be from that same area, just the other side of Mirkwood, so the look shouldn't be all that different.
If you work some up (or somebody else has already done so), I'd love to see some pix. :-D

I'd go with something vaguely medieval. I like this image:
http://merlkir.deviantart.com/art/Men-of-Dale-79822330

I haven't got any, but I think this lot would go well http://www.perry-miniatures.com/product ... ts_id=2490 with some of these: http://www.perry-miniatures.com/product ... cts_id=247

Now I've had a look, I might get some myself. What would go on their banners and shields, do you think?

I would recommend Rangers of Middle-earth, as they are 100% bow armed, and for some reason, I think Men of Dale shopuld be too, and they lok all cloakish too.

What's killing me here is that I really want to see how they will look in the film(s) before I decide on their visual style. I've wanted to do them for a while but have been holding off for that reason.

Personally, and this is a matter of taste, I really hope the film depiction is more Dark Age/Early medieval (so like the Saxons, Normans etc) than Late Medieval (like those C15th Mercenaries) - I think they made Gondor much too 'Modern' in the films. At least I can tone that down with fiefdom troops though.

I am also debating on doing them or not depending on what they look like in the Hobbit. I feel like they should have a Saxon theme also. I had thought of using Gripping Beast Saxons and some Rohan archers with head swaps. I just don't know if I can wait for the figs to come out. Alot of possibilites for games with these guys.

An age or two ago there was a guy on "What's new today" who had Warriors of Numenor with round shields (probably Rohan) as Men of Rhovanion, but they'd work perfect for Men of Dale, IMO.

Just wait till the Hobbit comes out. GW will probs bring them out anyway.

If thats not what you want then I always thought Rangers of Gondor would be good. Just need a different colour scheme.

If not then you could visit Wargames factory website to have a look. They have cheap and fantastic quality figures.

I'm content with using a Saxon or Norman historical of some kind. Hopefully PJ will see that the Bardings are supposed to be related to the Rohirrim and will do them in a similar fashion - hell, he may even be able to reuse some elements of the Rohirrim costumes. What I'm unsure of is the colour scheme. I'm going to scour The Hobbit for any clues and I'll post back here when I have any information about arms, armour, standards or heraldry.
