UGH! Gold is the bane of my existence. :-X I would love to get my Galadhrim painted up, but gold is just giving me a royal pain

I've tried several different basecoats/methods, but none result in something I am happy with. :x

Anyone have a not-so-secret trick?

On my Easterlings I paint irt Tin Bitz and drybrush with Shining Gold, on my Haradrm, I paint it Shining Gold then apply a wash of Devlan Mud. Either of those or both together should work fine.

On my Haldir's elves I used a basecoat of shining gold followed by a devlan mud wash. Highlight shining gold then burnished gold then I gave them a wash with thraka green (the green is optional, I wanted them to have a greenish tinge to their armour) you could always replace the green wash with a devlan mud wash - after this rehighlight with shining gold then burnished gold and then a final highlight with chainmail last of all gryphonne sepia wash over the whole lot.

Hope this helps.

I sprayed black the hole easterling army. First I apply chamnail, then burnished gold. Black wash, and B. gold highligt. If I will do this again, I will use white basecoat rather than black.

Very nice easterlings i enjoyed gazing upon them im starting a new lotr army at some stage and im looking at armies. anyway, in the wotr rule book it explains how to paint gold on easterlings gw way of course.

they do a 50/50 mix of Scorched brown with shining gold. then give it a brown wash and apply like a silver to the mix for highlights. But if your like me and hate mixing colours then this isnt helpful.
