Great to see all the progress!! And happy to help. Apologies for not having kept track on prepping pics of the latest (pre-)releases they've announced in Warhammer Community.

Sadly some entries in the UCG will truly become 'legacy', with so many great sculpts definitively disappearing from the range .

No problem, nothing is even in pre-order...

Yes, sad, truly sad. But other doors will be opened... ;)

Unofficial LotR Collectors Guide INDEX 10.0.0 Release

Hi All,

I absolutely adore the guide made by Miniman!
I also do love me some spreadsheets to keep track of my collections.

So i just went through the utter total mental onslaught of copying the full list of miniatures to an excel spreadsheet. :? :D
And with copying i mean manually retyping it, because the PDF is protected, so export tools NOR CTRL+c/CTRL+v work even to the smallest extent. I hope miniman doesn't see this as an intrusion on his work (it wasn't meant as such), but rather as a tribute and an auxiliary tool to be used together with his awesome PDF guide. :).

It took me a few weeks and a fried brain, but oh well, here we are. I might as well save some other peeps from this pain.

Please find attached: "unofficial_lotr_collectors_guide_INDEX_10.0.0.xlsx", packaged in a ZIP archive:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C1qrnhp8VsdOLPNDwk3gf3-osRm3zX5j/view?usp=sharing

This file is based on revision 10.0 of the PDF guide, and you'll need to open both files side by side for the list to make some sense.

Use is pretty straightforward:
1. Use "Sort from Smallest to Largest" on the "#ID" column (E) to display the models in the spreadsheet in the same order as in the PDF guide. This is the case by default, but after reordering based on some of the other collumns, you can always fix the order by sorting this one again.
2. You'll need to navigate the PDF guide on memory/intuition to find a certain model in the list, i was freaking fed up with all the typing and needed to go pet my cat :kitten: , so there are no page references in the spreadsheet. Feel free to release rev. 10.0.1 if you want an extra collumn with page references.
3. Use filters on collumn F-K to search what you are looking for. You are a smart human being, you'll figure it out. 8)
4. Add any number greater or equal to 1 in the "Want" collumn (B) to indicate you want this model.
5. Add any number greater or equal to 1 in the "Collect" collumn (C) to indicate you have this model in your collection.
6. Add any number greater or equal to 1 in the "Paint" collumn (D) to indicate you have painted this model
( :gandalf: YOU SHALL NOT PA... CREATE A PILE OF SHAME!! :gandalf: )
7. The overview summary at the top will show you how freaking far you still have to go before you've caught them all.
8. Overflow/Doubles (eg, adding 2 or 3 in collumn B,C,D) will not affect the summary (it is based on a countif statement), so go wild. Numbers equal or higher than 2 in collumn C or D will be marked in a brighter green.
9. Better buy a bigger closet to display all that awesomeness.

Enjoy, and let me know if you have questions!

Hello. This is a very nice effort—actually, the best there is so far. Will you be making a new edition for the War of the Rohirim, too?

Hi @ miniman,

What is your opinion on the spreadsheet index of the collectors guide?
Would love to hear your feedback about it.

If you like it, would you be willing to include the download link in your first post?

Warm regards

Hi Bytas,

First of all I'd like to congratulate you for this spreadsheet. I think I am the only one who knows how big this effort really is, so I take my hat off before you.
I also think and hope that it will be really handy for a lot of gamers and collectors.

I'm doing my best to keep updated the CG, but as I quit MESBG a long time ago, sometimes it is a hard job for me, especially when we are talking about limited releases, repacks, OOP minis, alternate versions and two or three in one minis.

When I've started the CG, most of my sources were printed ones, collector guides, White Dwarf articles, BGIME magazines, so it was obvious I will make it as it would be an other "printed" one, although it was digital from the start. Time has gone and things changed, but I didn’t want and I couldn't change the design.

I understand that you placed your work here, although I think it would have been better to make an other topic, as it would have been a better advert for the spreadsheet itself, and also think it would have been better to keep the conversation about the spreadsheet on its own topic. But this is already happened.

Of course I will place the link in the first post, so we can help the collectors together, and I hope you will be able to maintain the spreadsheet at least as long as I've been able to keep updated the CG.

Best wishes,
Miniman

Hi miniman,

Appreciate the feedback! :) i also understand the effort you have put into the unofficial collectors guide is still many orders of magnitude larger than the effort i've spent on the spreadsheet (which is quite simple in nature), so also take my hat of firstly for you. You are the real MVP here. ^^

Very good point about the spreadsheet being worthy of a new thread. I honestly didn't about it that way, but it makes total sense. I'll leave it like this for now, but if i ever release an update i'll create a topic for that update and we can crosslink each other ^^

Also, don't feel pressured to work faster on any update of the guide now because there is an index, i will also not be in a rush to keep the index up to date. The guide is already super good and first and foremost you have to enjoy yourself ;) so take all the time you need for the guide, so will i for the index .

Take care,
Bytas
