Does anyone know a good way to paint white fur? (particularly warg fur). I have a model with a fur cloak which I want to paint to resemble white wargs (the backstory is that he killed some white warg chieftan and turned his pelt into a cloak).
So far I'm thinking... mid-brown basecoat - bleached bone - skull white.
(mid-brown = Vallejo model colour, German camo medium brown = Bestial/Mournfang brown)
(bleached bone = ushabti bone)
(skull white = white scar)
Or would that be too quick a transition from brown to white? Should I mix the paints, or use different ones? How do you do your white wargs / other white furry creatures?
Also if you're interested, the model (below) is an Early Saxon warlord called Aella from
Musketeer Miniatures (the historical
Aella of Sussex AFAIK).
I'm going to use him to represent a warlord/King of Rhovanion (a large region north east of Rohan, south of Erebor and Mirkwood). The Rhovanions (?) were a collection of tribes and eventually Kingdoms who were allied to Gondor and aided them in wars against the Wainriders/Easterlings before the great plague and a final Easterling invasion destroyed the region. The survivors who fled formed the Eotheod and formed settlements on the banks of the Anduin river between the Misty Mountains and Mirkwood; then centuries later became the Rohirrim when the Steward Cirion granted them Rohan in return for aid against another Easterling invasion.
