What does Gurthang mean and whose sword is it?

It means "Iron of Death" or "Wand of Death" and it was the sword of the Elf Lord Turin Turambar. With it he killed the Dragon Glaurung.

Lol, I am using that piece as a source for an essay I'm about to write, so I'm a bit annoyed that I got beaten to it.

Hah, it's strange that I found the 'difficult one' far easier than almost all the others. I think I'm far more knowledgable about the real world stuff (authors/actors/publication dates etc.) than the in-world stuff (characters, timelines, places etc.) so thanks!
