I just discovered that for each of the first 3 movies, they released a set of soundtrack disks called The Complete Recordings. Not just say the 2 minutes of a score that makes the film, but the full score as written by Howard Shore. Unfortunately these appear to be OOP, and not on MP3's.

I've been listening to them on YouTube and they are fantastic, except the quality sucks.

Were any of you lucky enough to buy them when they came out?

Yup and they are great, I have them sat between my Argonath from one of the LOTR dvd sets as they have been done to look like books.
