Could some one help me as my next project is the royal stables but there are 2 the one that MacGothmog made which we only see the outside of and the other in which Shadowfax is stabled. The last one has 2 rows of stalls on either side with shadowfax at the end (this stable is on the extra cd of the extended version where there is a model of the interior), but looking at both there are not the same and the interior would not fit in the one that is shown in the film. Sorry I'm not allowed to put the images up to show what i mean as of yet forum restrictions but in time i will post them

I made the stables a bit in a rush to have it done in time for the awards so I had to accept some compromises. I also had some issues with my old laptop (now dead), lost most of the references and actually built plenty of it by memory. Its very similar to the building I was using as reference (wich I think is the Royal Stables), but its not an exact copy.

When looking for references I ended up having that exact issue you just posted. The interior references and the exterior references didnt seem to match. I only wanted to do the outside, but I kept wondering if the model I was using was actually the stables. I think it was, but like I said, the inside that you can see in a couple of scenes in TTT and TOTK doesnt fit. There are elements that the same, or at least very similar (the shape of the windows, etc), but the dimensions seem way off.

I only used references from what you can see in the movies, havent checked any movie art books or even the extras. Like I said, I was mostly interested in that particular building, wich I assumed it was the stables.

Thank you for that. I think you still did an amazing job considering the problems you had. I think I'll do the one i've found on the dvd which shows the interior and see how it comes out.

Guys, it is a common trick in movie making to build things (e.g., sets) in different sizes to suit the budget. The exterior of the Golden Hall was also smaller than the interior, but not really noticeably. It would cost too much to go the whole hog all the time.

Makes life difficult for miniature builders...

It would also defy physics were the interior to be larger than the exterior...

:P

The problem is the shape of the one near the Golden Hall and the one that they use for filming instide are not the same in any way
