We tried out two scenarios today from the Two Towers book. The first was Let's Hunt some Orc, and the 3 heroes failed to reach the edge of the board. The second was this battle.............
The Isengard side had two objectives;
1) Kill Theodred
2) Get at least one troop on the Rohan side of the river at the end of turn 15
The Rohan force wins if they can prevent both of these objectives from happening
I took on the Rohan forces, i deployed fairly near the river and moved closer to the edge on my first turn (a mistake i think)
The Isengard force makes it way through the ford
Both sides are exchanging missile fire
Outriders charge forward and knock the uruk-hai scouts to the ground
Theodred hangs around behind his troops
A few odd results with one rohan warrior able to force the Troll back hehe
Vrasku gets involved in the combat. Erkenbrand fails to turn up on turn 5 and 6. Theodred charges the uruk-hai scouts
The troll thins down the Rohan numbers (including Theordred) but the Isengard force is broken
On turn 7 Erkenbrand appears from the east
Most of the Isengard force flees when the Riders of Rohan appear
As soon as the troll is cut down the rest of the uruk-hai flee. The game ends in a draw because Theodred was killed
In conclusion..... For this scenario i think i should have kept Theodred away from the fighting for much longer. I got bored of him hanging around at the back.
The other thing i could have changed was the location of where i engaged the enemy, i could have moved up to the middle of the ford. I felt as though i did get an advantage by letting him just pass through the ford, because he was bottle-necked and had a narrow frontage.
