I don't have anybody to play against but has anybody considered playing though the Lord of the Rings campaign but using Thorin and Company in the Fellowship's stead.

Bilbo would take Frodo's role obviously and Thorin Aragorn's. Maybe Ori or Balin could act as Sam.

I would be very interested to see how they fare.

I imagine they would do infinitely better considering they are all fighters and they outnumber the fellowship by nearly double.

I guess you could put them in groups of 2 or 3 to represent one member.
Gandalf = Gandalf (duh)
Frodo = Bilbo (hobbits)
Fili/Kili = Legolas (both look young and are skilled with bows)
Thorin = Boromir (good fighter, stubborn very nationalistic)
Gloin/Oin = Gimli (father son relationship)
Dwalin/Balin = Aragorn (both wise and powerful)
Dori/Ori/Nori = Merry/Pippin (silly at first but bravery will come later)
Bifur/Bofer/Bomber = Sam (both like food and are caring to bilbo/frodo)

Bilbo, Ori, Oin and Balin aren't fighters and most of the Dwarves are F 5 compared to the Fellowshjip's F6. I can't see the F5 Dwarves doing as well against Uruk-Hai and their captains as the Fellowship would.
