After crushing me so decisively, last month, Andy was up for another game - this time 1200pts. This time, I gave my Angmar forces a run (that's the way of Evil, always fighting amongst themselves) while Andy had another version of his Mordor/Misty Mountains Dol Goldur mixture. 1200pts leaves us a full 300pts for allies. Deployments (Field of Swords and Kingslayer). Quote: We were tending our pastures when the boy saw the smoke for the watch fires. Was it Elves? The weak men of the South, who had so recently lost their King? Rohavian Bandits? Morgoth's black [word deleted] - it is those traitorous Orcs from that fetid Mirkwood and their Misty-Mountain running dog lackey's. And run they did. The black line surged forward and a fake Wraith gave them wings. Evidence of their low cowardice and base treachery! They snuck close to our artillery - under pretense of Fellowship in the glorious Evil Revolution from the yoke of Westron oppression - and obliterated it with magic. They are base blackguards and class-traitors! Full report here: http://roughwotr.blogspot.com/2012/01/w ... .html#more Thanks for reading. |

Nice description, I wished I'd seen more Cave Drakes around. |

Xelee, I really enjoye dthat one, your narration was first class of course (speaking of which 1. did the Cave Drake eat Thrydan? and 2. nice to see you recycling the name Hrofgar, Beowulf, Eragon & LOTR RPG are the opnly places I've seen it before). Aslo, tell your opponant his army looks a LITTLE better now, and it reminds me that when I next use Dol Guldor at 2000pts (a true battle, not a petty squabble ) I will be using a Cave Drake alongside a Troll Chieftain and a Spider Queen. |

Constantine, thanks. I'm not 100% sure what the model is (Andy got it off an auction site) but it is pretty cool. It even has proper (ie Jewelery) chains etc Hi Gothmog -2000 pts still seems like more the thing for a daytime battle, to me. But at least I've dipped my toe in the water No the King of Carn Dum successfully fended of that Drake and protected his men. I like Monsters too but think you have to agree that some things not be fielded/used on them if they are going to get to do anything. |

Heheheh, by the way I only asked about Drake as it was hard to tell whether Thrydan won, or whether your 'scribe' was glossing over his demise. Monsters are the reason I got into LOTR (more specifically Cave Trolls, Fell beasts and Mumakil did), so no matter how bad, I always aim to take at least one. |

Closing over his demise? Are you implying that the Red Fortress Sectretariat for Information is not always a 100% reliable, and balanced, source? I like the big monsters too - shame about the rules for most of them! Cheers |
