What's this I see? A Dragon draws near?
Image
The Dragon (spell casting, of course) was accompanied by 5 coy spiders, four coy Goblin bow, six (?) Coy Goblins with Shields (yes with shields, my opponent is not inclined to proxy Blackshields unless for our 'experiments') and a Spider Queen.

Angmar had: The Tainted, 5 Coy Carn Dum Barbarians w Chieftain, 5 Coy Carn Dum Barbarians, 5 Coy Carn Dum Barbarians, Carn Dum Siege bow, Buhrdur, 4 Coy Isengard xbow with Captain.

The Dragon went down pretty quick unfortunately for Moria, probably the key moment of the game. I was forgetting that Strength from Corruption on these already high strength units doesn't really hurt you anymore since they hit on 3's most of the time. Good report, thanks!

Yeah, SfC on the dragon and then getting lucky with the wound rolls, 10 wounds on him in the first turn, ouch. And with the spells preventing him from charging, there goes half the guy's army.

Yes Nazgul are a Monster's worst nightmare, Pall of Night alone is incredibly cheap given how hard it is to prevent it.

In a RAW game, that Dragon would have had it much, much worse. The tournament guidelines we are using restrict lists to just the one. Even then, dice were evening out over the four turns the game went for. Two good turns and two turns where the Spell actually failed. Over the eight, given Pall of Night stops half the harm the Dragon does, even a lone Nazgul does not really even need to get lucky.

poor dragon, still great battle. pall of night seems to be one of the most deadly things to happen to a monster. half an army sitting around doing nothing!

Yes it was pretty rough with so much melee capability negated by a single spell, though at least he could cast Ruin spells and the breath weapon totally did-over my poor xbow.

However, given we were allowing Will of Iron to work on a 3+, I would have been inclined to use some might to try negating the spell.
