Hi all, yesterday me, Jorn (Eaothen-the-brave) and my cousin Mika (From_Trollbane) had a little SBG battle using armies we've never used before. For me this was the Last Alliance and Mika took Mordor to fight with. Here are the army lists and the results of battle, leave comments and such below please, we'd like to hear your opinion. And one more thing.. Enjoy!!
The Last Alliance:
1 capt. of Numenor/ heavy armour + shield = 60 points
1 banner bearer of Numenor = 37 points
9 swordmen of Numenor/shield = 72 points
10 spearmen of Numenor/shield = 90 points
13 elves/ elven sword = 130 points
10 elven archers = 110 points
total: = 44 men = 499 points
Mordor:
18 Moranon orcs+shield = 144 points
9 Moranon orcs + spear = 81 points
6 Mordor orcs + shield = 36 points
6 Mordor orcs + spear = 36 points
5 Mordor orcs +shield & spear = 35 points
2 Mordor orc captains = 90 points
4 Morgul knights = 80 points
total: = 50 men = 502 points
Turn 1: Well, nothing happened. As usually both armies started to march towards each other. The orcs were also out of range for the elven archers.
Turn 2: The elves used their volley to shoot at the orcs, with 2 hits one arrow flew to the captain at the left flank, but the orc managed to use his shield to block it. The second arrow flew at a Moranon orc, with a dice roll of 5 the orc was nearly killed but his thick armour saved him.
Turn 3: While the armies kept marching to each other, the elves kept firing their bows, again there were 2 hits on the orcs, but again, none seemed to kill an orc.
Turn 4: The armies drew closer, and the Morgul knights were charging towards Numenor's right flank so the elves fired their bows at them, one arrow hit the knight, but the heavy armour made it impossible for the elves to penetrate.
Turn 5: The forces of good held their position, while the orcs where about to charge them,
the archers let their arrows fly at the left flank of the orcs, a lot of them hit the orcs, but only 2 elves were able to kill them aswel. Two orcs of Mordor lay dead on the battlefield that moment.
Turn 6: Sauron's forces got priority and charged the men and elves, both forces were fighting for their lives!
The Numenor captain was fighting the Mordor captain, but the forces of good overpowered Sauron's evil creature by making him loosing a wound, when the orc tried to save himself with the one fate point he has, he failed. In the battle, Numenor drew back most of the orcs, also slaughtering a lot of them, mostly thanks to their higher fight value. Mordor lost three Moranon orcs with and also one Mordor orc. Some weren't so lucky, Numenor lost both a spear- and swordman in battle, and the elves guarding the right flank got charged by the knights, one elf got overwelmed by a knight, he was unable to fight against him, but also another knight got killed, he got surrounded by 4 elves, 2 were wielding a one-handed sword, and the other two wielded an 2-handed sword. One of the 1-handed elves managed to threw the knight of his steed, wich was also the killing blow of this round.
Turn 7: The battle kept going, again, Mordor had priority once more, so the knights charged at the back of the forces of good. Numenor and the elves pushed back the wave of orcs, but having two losses, both an elf and a man. The captain of Numenor and the one of Mordor kept fighting each other, once more, Numenor was victorious, but the nasty orc used his might to make a dice roll of 6 to a 5, wich saved him that turn. But, Mordor lost 3 units, a Moranon orc, and two orcs of Mordor, one with sword, one with spear. The forces of good are winning at the moment, but, the fight isn't over.. yet...
Turn 8: Good had priority, wich was needed, the captains kept fighting once again, Numenor won again, but the orc used his last might point and so he won, with two wounds the captain of good would be dead, but he used might aswell, wich saved him one wound, fate didn't work for him. 2 Numenoreans and an elf got a knight killed, further got the Numenoreans slaughtered some orcs, 3 Moranon's and 2 Mordor's. Two elves lost their lives defending the left flank, and also 3 Numenoreans got killed. It was a bloody round.
Turn 9: The two captains were still fighting, but this time one got killed, finally, the forces of good managed to kill the nasty commander of the enemy. The fight value of both elves and men helped them a lot once more. One elf got killed, and two men, and for the orcs, they lost two Moranon orcs and a Mordor orc.
Turn 10: The army of good got seperated, everyone had to fight on it's own it seems, the banner bearer got charged by an orc in the back, but he swiftly stabbed him, and he was save for now. An elf got killed, the remaining forces of good won their battle, a knight of Morgul and 3 Moranon orcs were defeated.
Turn 11: The evil forces got priority and charged the good forces, there was no way to get out and they fought for their lives. And with succes, 2 Numenoreans got killed by the brutal orcs, but, they fought back bravely and Mordor lost 7 orcs, 3 Moranon's and 4 normal Mordor orcs. Hereby Sauron's army was broken.
Turn 12: Good won priority, wich made Mordor unable to move freely, yet, two elves got killed, and three orcs aswell, the Numenorean captain killed the second orc captain, the other two orcs were both of Moranon.
Turn 13: Sauron's forces got priority, wich made them flee, 5 Moranon orcs were running away, when they saw what happened with their captain, their morale was very low, also 2 Mordor orcs ran off. The evil forces had only 8 units left. And they didn't fought yet.
The fight got 2 Numenoreans killed, one of them being the loyal banner, it was a sad loss for Numenor seeing their symbol getting lost in battle, out of revenge they killed 2 orcs.
Turn 14: Mordor had priority and 3 orcs ran off in panic, they only had 4 men remaining, and the good forces were also 2 men removed from a broken army. The brave captain of Numenor slaughtered the last knight, and the other men and elves killed 2 orcs, only 1 orc was left..
Turn 15: The last orc got killed, by the brave captain of Numenor, from this day, he shall be known to his enemies and he'll spread fear in their lands! Victory!
Then he brought his men to save grounds to recover from his injuries, they might have won this battle, but Sauron's power reaches far.. and the war will keep on going..
Commentary of both players:
Mika: Too bad I lost, I dont really have alot to add. I thought the elven archers where a little disapointing since they only got 2 kills, then again they didn't see alot of combat. I think the reason why I lost was because I screwed over my cavalry by letting them get trapped and those damn high fight values. Oh and ofcourse the most important reason, bad luck.
Jorn: Actually, I'd never thought I'd win this battle, since Mika had more units and his army was spread out over the table, while my army was just on one bunch, he could easily flank me. Also when I saw my archers only killed 2 orcs, and his army was reaching mine, I thought 'how the hell am I going to win this?' Luckily my high fight value of both Numenor and the elves helped me a lot. He threw a lot of good dices, but lost it because of the fight value. I was also scared by the knight, seeing them to charge my flank.. if there were more of them and if his army wouldn't be broken, things would have turned out worse for me I think.. anyway.. Victory is mine!!
